look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

APPEARANCE:
12 oz can with 100109 date. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium light tan head.
AROMA:
Light aroma of toasted malt, caramel, squaw bread comes to mind. If the beer tasted like it smelled, I would have liked it more.
FLAVOR:
Grainy malt, rye and hints of earth.
MOUTHFEEL:
Medium body. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Nice mouthfeel leaning toward silky.
DRINKABILITY:
A simple easy drinking red. Not much complexity. As I wouldn't drink this for flavor, I wish it had a bit more doughy malt to make it a session beer.

A- Bottle poured into a slim pint glass with a clear red body. An off-white cap forms to about a finger and a half high with a foamy, frothy texture. Head retention is pretty good as a large pillow sticks around in the center of the glass. Lacing starts with some webs at the top of the glass and tons of sheets/webs follow those down the glass.

S- Malts and hops are fairly balanced in the nose. From the grains comes a fair amount of toasted, nutty, caramel and biscuit notes. Hops round it out with citrus and pine hints. Slight fruity hints from the yeast.

T- Pretty much follows the nose with a solid balance struck between malts and hops with a slight yeast influence. The malts are mostly caramel and toasty with hints of cereal, fresh cracked grain and nuttiness. Tea comes to mind at points. Some roast hints open with warming. Hops mostly citrus with a grapefruit/orange feel as well as floral and pine tones. American Ale Yeast provides a base of bread, light fruits and slight spice.

MF- Moderate to light overall thickness to the body with a texture somewhere between creamy and foamy. Carbonation at a medium to high level providing a nice sting to the taste buds like good IPAs. Finishes with a slight bitterness.

Solid Amber with a nice balance struck between a fairly diverse, flavorful malt profile and hops.

The beer pours a nice clear amber with a slightly off-white head of medium sized bubbles. The bubbles settle to a quarter of a finger’s width above my glass and leaves a nice sticky splotching of lacing. In body the beer is clear and translucent, though darker from its malt; no particles nor haze are present. On the nose, the beer smells decidedly hoppy with beautiful citric and pine scents. A soft touch of caramel and apple juice can be sensed beneath the assertive hop character along with a touch of breadiness. On the tongue, the beer tastes initially bitter, with a sweet finish that doesn’t entirely lose its bitter piney tastes. Soft acidity can also be sensed from the hops. In flavor, the beer begins as prickly pine, swiftly working to citrus juice that slowly blends with a caramel malt and then winds into a nice bready malt while holding onto prickly pine on the sides of the tongue. The finish is of a nice length, and the aftertaste is of citric bitter juice. Touches of apple juice and herbal hop bitters can also be sensed towards the finish of the beer. In the mouth, the beer feels medium bodied with a middling carbonation that provides a fluff and a prickle to the tongue. Mouthfeel is crisp and slightly chewy with middling gelling sense taking place on the middle of the tongue. Overall, this is a nice mildly hoppy amber ale. It has some stranger flavors on the corners of the palate, but I suspect that has to do with age more than anything (its Coronado’s first time shipping to MA). The beer features a nice hop bite and middling malt balance. I could drink a few of these.

Had a few of these thanks to Cali traders sending me them to try. Now they randomly started showing up in MA, so I get to try this one at least, and a couple others I think.

Pours a tan colored fizzy 1 finger head that fades fairly quickly due to the big bubbled fizzy nature of it, touch of lacing left there, mostly clear slight hazed reddish color, little iced tea brown color to it.

Nose brings sweet reddish malts, little toasty reddish malts, amber malts, bit of caramel and candy like, even a touch nutty almost, juicy malt, with a very faint citrusy earthy hop note.

Taste comes on richer than I though, plenty of toasty brown malt flavors, reddish malts as well, little candy like with toasty flavors, nutty, plenty of caramel and hint of toffee even, a bit of a juicy malt flavor and hint creamy like. Hops come in on the back end and fairly light, mild bitterness with an herbal like hop note, not the best bittering hop as it seems to clash a bit with the sweeter malt style. Finish is dry but a bit sticky, more candy malt flavors, caramel, toffee, brownish malts, with a little herbal tea note on the hops.

Mouth is med to a bit bigger bod, lighter carb though.

Overall eh, not a great beer, the malt profile borders between a brown and red ale with some sweet notes, not bad actually, but then the herbal hop note seems to clash with it, and lighter carbonation, slight syrupy nature, don't play well with the amber style of it. That being said it's not a bad beer at all, just not great.

Amber reddish hued with a slight bit of white foam covering most of the top of the beer. Good clarity. Good aroma of caramel and amber malt. The flavor is gently hopped with piney hops and then I get some rich caramel malt and some hop bitterness returns after the sweetness of the malt fades. The mouth is moderately carbonated.

Slightly hazed, red with a bit of an orange hue. Short, dense cap of fine tan bubbles. A good amount of sticky lacing, decent head retention. Piney hop aroma, caramel malt and some citrus, earthy. Bitterness was sharp and earthy, and lingered in the finish. Some caramel sweetness, herbal with a bit of pine. Moderate carbonation, medium body, a bit creamy in texture. Good overall.

Amber red color with a thick one finger off-white head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Aroma of American yeast, biscuit malt, caramel, earthy hops, pine and flowers.
Pleasant flavor with notes of American yeast, caramels, citrus, pine, spices, cocoa, roasted and toasted malts, earth and a hint of nuts and iced tea. Dry and bitter aftertaste. It doesn’t feel like 50 IBUs, maybe given it is quite malty.
Medium body with good carbonation
I preferred it to be less malty, though it is still a good beer that I liked. After warming up felt to me like sweetened iced tea.
