A 12 oz bottle picked up at Greens in Columbia, SC

A - A hazy orange, with lots of sediment. 1 finger of head. Sticky lace all over the glass like a good IPA should

S - Sweet citrus hops dominate!

T - Like the nose, sweet citrus hops up front, with a bitter kick at the end. Nice Malt backbone punch at the end as well.

M - Full bodied, with tons of carbonation. Oily feel.

O - An excellent IPA. I wish Coronado distributed to GA. I will have to hit them up my next trip to San Diego. San Diego IPA's, still have not met one I have not liked

A-Pours a lightly hazy orange color that glows. Light head that ends up being smaller but persistent. Leaves light rings of lace.

S-Very well balanced. Lots of citrus with a malty base. Caramel sweetness and a mixture of citrus hops and sweetness that reminds me of marmalade. Lightly piney as well. Hoppy but plenty of sweetness.

T-Like the nose. Sweetened citrus. The coolest part of this beer is that I am getting some serious chocolate notes which you rarely get in an IPA. Balance, balance, balance. Good hop profile. Solid but not superb.

M-Creamy and fuller bodied. Semi-dry. Mellow carbonation. Drinks easy.

O/D-A unique IPA that I enjoyed quite a bit. This and their Idiot are both solid hoppy beers that are well worth trying.

Appearance: Lovely hazy golden brown. Pure white, slightly sudsy one finger head with moderate retention and lacing. The color is really gorgeous

Smell: Orange, grapefruit, tropical fruit, caramel, candy, spice. Balanced and lovely aromas

Taste: The taste largely follows the nose, but is too bitter, unnecessarily bitter. The bitterness seems crude and far too aggressive. Were it not for the bitterness, the balance of hop flavors and malt flavors could be really, really nice

Mouthfeel: Oily, dry, and bitter. The finish is long and bitter, and the alcohol is a touch too warming for my taste

Overall: This is a good IPA that could be a great IPA. Balance the hop bitterness a bit better and tone down the warming alcohol a tad and this would be a lot better. I'm interested in trying some other offerings from Coronado

On tap at the Irish Pol the other night.

The beer pours a peachy gold color with very good head retention and considerable sticky lacing all around. The nose imparts considerable tropical fruit (lots of canned fruit cup and canned peaches), with some light underlying citrus as well. The beer isn't quite as sweet and malty as I was expecting, based on the nose, but it still seemed to dominate the flavor profile. There's some noticeable underlying hoppy bitterness as well, which helps to buoy all the tropical fruit flavor, but this IPA still leans to the malty side. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long finish. Drinkability isn't too bad, with the alcohol well integrated into the flavor profile.

A decent take on the style, but not one of my favorite IPA's. Would likely not order this one again.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a conical Guinness pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Acquired at a local Ralph's market. My bottle displays the ABV is 7.0%. Expectations are below average. Reviewed live.

Served refrigerator cold and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of fair cream and thickness, and good retention. Hardly any lacing at all as it recedes. Colour is a semitransparent pale yellow - more dull than vibrant. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. The plethora of carbonation bubbles suggests potential overcarbonation.

Sm: Piney oily hops with light floral character. Maybe this'll be a balanced IPA after all. Somewhat buttery. Clean malts. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Oily and a bit piney but way too bitter and oily in the third act and climax. The climax is just buttery oily artificial garbage. It almost feels like some kind of crude hop extract was used. Bleh. Clean malts are present underneath as the foundation. Whatever they used to try to balance the bitterness was an abysmal choice. It's a simple crappy IPA. Not at all subtle or complex. No layering.

Mf: Oily, buttery, smooth, and wet. It's disconcerting and doesn't feel clean. Disharmonious relative to the flavour profile. Adequately (if not over) carbonated. Too thick for the lack of flavour.

Dr: A poorly constructed IPA that tries to venture into pine territory but gets caught up in its own oily nature. Fans of the style might enjoy it, but it borders on movie theatre popcorn buttery, turning me off to it. Decently priced for what it is, but it's low quality. I certainly wouldn't get it again.

A poor candidate for aging.

Might pair well with popcorn (I'm trying to stay on the bright side here).

A 16oz pint at the Waikiki Yard House, which seems to be a dark, cool, and welcome haven for this not yet acclimated northern mainlander.

This beer appears a hazy, medium golden amber hue, with one finger of thinly foamy, and mostly soapy off-white head, which leaves a nice span of grotto lace around the glass as it duly settles.

It smells of white grapefruit pith, orange cream, further muddled tropical fruit notes, a bit of acrid pine resin, and subtle, softly biscuity and bready caramel malt. The taste is bitter composite citrus rind and floral, somewhat sweet mango and kiwi, pine oil, a stocky caramel/toffee malt, and some mildly cutting and astringent booze.

The bubbles are average in their bearing, and apparently damned good at it, the body a respectable medium weight, and a bit too sassy from the cushioned sledgehammer hops and sneaky alcohol to come across all that smooth - no biggie, though. It finishes pretty dry, the big west coast hop bitterness throttling out most other impressions.

A true and veritable American IPA, more complex than I may have made it sound here, and easy to drink, even with the elevated ABV. Great to sit down to after my initial few hours frolicking in the Hawaiian sun, and with an appropriate name to boot.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy brownish color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very hoppy, a touch of citrus. Taste is very hop forward, considerable bitterness, a slight hint of citrus, no real malt balance. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer but nothing special.
