12oz bottle

A- Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark and slightly hazy amber color with an off- white head with solid lacing and retention.

S- The aroma is some malt with fresh piney hops as well.

T- The taste has a mild malt backbone up front with he hops quickly coming in and lingering well into the finish. The finish also has some warmth from the alcohol as well.

M- The mouthfeel is between light and medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, Idiot IPA is a fine west-coast IPA from Coronado. I will definitely pick some up in the future when I am craving some hops.

On tap at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica, CA.

Pours a clear honey orange with a white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy splotches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and some tropical fruit aromas. Taste is the same with a malt backbone that comes through on the aftertaste. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good DIPA with nice hop smells and flavors.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Reviewed live.

A- Half a finger fluffy white head. Pale copper colored body. Watery lacing and a surprisingly long retention.

S- Very hoppy, floral hops are the most prominent smell, but some spicy ones are also present. Some sweet fruity esters and sugariness. Can't detect the alcohol which is nice for a 8.5.

T- Very boldly bitter, metallic notes and hoppy all the way down. Not an easy to handle flavor.

M- Wet and chewy carbonation.

O- Not an easy to drink beer, but nice in the style and very bold.

Pours a light amber with gold highlights. Server poured it to the top of the glass, so not much head. Even with not much head it still left some lacing.

Smell is fruity tangerine with hints of pine.

Taste is citrusy, very close to the smell. Pine and pith finish a nice tasting beer.

Very easy to drink, smooth and almost light, kind of juicy, with a nice hoppy bite to it.

A nice beer, good punch, not much malt, very hop focused and nice.

Thanks to my buddy McD0uche for bringing this up from SoCal for me.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: A thick, creamy pearl white head sits on top of a hazy reddish golden colored body. The head lasts for quite some time throughout drinking. It looks very still with no carbonation visible.

S: Strong hop profile that is mostly piney with a touch of orange citrus. That's basically all I'm picking up out of this one. These hop aromas overpower any other characteristics that try to come through.

T: The taste is similar to the aroma, but sort of muted. Hop flavors of pine and citrus are present, but they are somewhat mellow and a bit of a disappointment for a DIPA. It does finish with a nice bitter bite.

M: It has a nice medium body with a resiny sort of feel. The sticky feel coats the palate with the hop profile and lets it linger. It finishes quite bitter and crisp. Just about everything I want in the feel of a DIPA.

O: The taste was a letdown for me in this one. Other aspects were either above average or spot on. With some added complexities and a bolder taste, this would be up there with other great DIPA's.

A: Hazy golden orange/light copper. Tight bubbles, leaves a far amounts of sticky lacing.

S: Pine, grapefruit, light floral notes, Nice bit of carmel comes through.

T: Very nice floral hops with good grapefruitiness and a bit of orange. Nice sweetness in the middle and get bitterness.

M: Nice hoppy resin left. Slighly boozy but I think it was well balanced so not too noticable. Medium bodied.

O: Happy to try new things when I was in San Diego, Nice big bold hops with nice sweetness.
