at the brewery as 'skippers best bitter'.

pours a cloudy orange with a thin white head, and great lacing.

smell is of orange peel, malt, a touch of caramel, and a few hops in the back.

taste is refreshing, tangy, hops, some caramel, ends nicely bitter.

On-tap at Verdugo Bar, on to the beer:

Hazy faded orange color, the head is soapy white on top, retains well and leaves a great amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma is grainy first and second, with dry lemon notes a distant third. The taste follows the aroma with its graininess. It's dry like rye. A little astringent and husky at times. Peppery lemon is recognized. Citrus notes are clouded underneath the graininess. Hint of toffee floating around. Some sharp bitterness come into play to try to balance it all out. Not much diacetly here. Fairly strong carbonation, just a notch higher than I'd like for this style.

This turned out to be a pretty good bitter, though the purists may demand more diacetyl.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a cloudy yellow-orange, almost looks like a wheat beer, not a bitter. Soft white head, good lacing.

S: Smell is mild, good piney hop notes, toasted, sugary malt.

T: Tastes a lot like a mix of an APA and an English mild. Definitely an American take on the style, I really liked the flavour, even if it doesn't taste like a traditional bitter, it still stayed within the style enough to be easily identifiable as one.

Sweet English-style malt, light caramel, bread is balanced by a good deal of pine, grapefruit, and some juicy tropical notes. Very flavourful.

M: Light/medium-bodied, juicy, "wet", good amount of resin.

D: An interesting bitter from Coronado, I was so pleasantly surprised ordering this one that I had two.
