As an "Wit" I was expect a light color and a citrus crispness. What I got was a hoppy amber beer. The hop feel sat on my tongue like an IPA. There was zero citrus crispness. As such, it was not to style in the least bit. Instead I would judge this beer as an amber ale. In which case I would rate it slightly higher but it would still be "unremarkable"

Pours cloudy yellow with a faint head.

Smells orange-y but in an artificial sense. Like orange soda almost.

Taste follows the smell. A hint of vanilla honey but the taste is dominated by a fake orange taste.

Mouthfeel- watery

A let down. The description sounded great but the beer just wasn't that great.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating but was recently released in the state. Pours very hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of orange peel, lemon zest, pear, light banana, wheat, biscuit, honey, coriander, light clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready/honey malt, spice, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of orange peel, lemon zest, pear, light banana, wheat, biscuit, honey, coriander, light clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of orange peel, lemon zest, pear, light banana, wheat, biscuit, honey, coriander, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and robustness of spice, yeast ester, and bready/honey malt sweetness; with decent complexity and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good witbier. Good robustness and balance of yeast ester, spices, and bready/honey malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink. A pleasant and enjoyable offering.

Nearly no initial head and from there, it loses nearly all of the bubbles rapidly. Exactly three small spots for lace. Straw color with plenty of haze.

Soured pale malt mash aroma. A bit grainy as well. After a bit of waiting, I smell sweetness that reminds me of orange ribbon candy.

First impression is that this another macro beer--thin body and lightly flavored. I note some wheat and hop in the swallow. Very short aftertaste. Easy to drink but void of any interest.

22oz bottle into an Angel City Flute style glass
Notes taken from 04/06/14

A: Sunburst yellowish-orange with considerable wheat haze obscuring visibility across the body. Thin lip of fizzy white foam settles up quickly to a mere halo. Some very mellow lace and dots of stick noted.

S: Smells predominantly of wheat malt with that grainy husk like quality. There is a nice honeysuckle sweetness to the nose and some light orange zest coming through. Dash of spicy pepper there. Mostly wheat malt up in here though which is not all that appealing to me.

T: Tastes much the same with a heavy influence of grainy wheat malt and some modest dried orange peel. Has a light sourdough bread likeness to it with a touch of orange blossom honey. Dash of faint spice but not a very developed yeast character here. There is a moderately low amount of bitterness perceived and the alcohol is well disguised throughout. Slight herbal note in the back. All in all this comes off very bland and pedestrian with not much going on in flavor town.

M: Moderate filling from the bready malts but stays on the lighter side. Still seems heavier than most Wits. Even carb could be higher but gives a smooth consistency. Touch watered down with a light drying in the finish. Fairly clean end result.

D: I am a Coronado fan as most of the offerings that they put out are solid but this one is a big miss for me. I can appreciate the need for a nice refreshing light Belgian Wit in your lineup but at least make it something special. This is just plain drab. Shock Top says hello.
