Cloudy, gold color. Frothy head that settles slowly and in a lumpy fashion. Webby lace on the glass.

Beyond the usual IPA smells of mostly floral hop and a solid malt base, there appears to be a cooked cabbage-like sourness. A bit distracting.

Solid malt start to this DIPA. The hop never kicks in as viciously as most. The aftertaste is lengthy but mild. Most noticeable is the warming alcohol which is omnipresent. The carbonation is quite low and the body is appropriate for the style. Overall, it comes across as creamy. This is an easy to drink DIPA.

22oz bottle

A- Pours a clear golden orange color with a thin off-white head that quickly turns into a thin ring of lace around the glass.

S- The aroma is fresh citrusy and piney hops and lots of it with some alcohol coming through in the aroma as well. This smells like it is going to be a West coast Imperial IPA through and through. Smells fantastic!

T- The taste like the aroma is big on the hops with big citrus (orange and grapefruit) flavors coming from the hops and lingering well into the finish. The finish also has some warmth from the alcohol, but it is not too distracting from the flavor.

M- The mouthfeel is between light and medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, Sock Knocker from Coronado Brewing is a fine example of an Imperial IPA from the West coast. Pick this one up to try if you are a hop head. Recommended!
