I stopped by here while on an overnight stay on Coronado Island. I only had time to enjoy a pint and take in the place before heading back to my hotel.
Just off to the left of the entrance is a small patio area. Once inside, the place is divided into two sections, a dining area to the right and the bar area to the left. I felt the place was a bit cramped and a bit dark thanks to the copious amounts of dark wood and sepia-tinged lighting.
Okay, the beers. On-tap were Coronado's honey ale, blonde, Four Brothers pale ale, Mermaid red, Island Weizen, Point Loma porter, Outlet stout, Hoppy Daze IPA and Beachin' Bay barleywine. I opted for a pint of the IPA which I found quite satisfying. Growlers were available and also bottles of the Mermaid Red and Blonde. Supposedly the porter also but I didn't see it. Overall, I thought the selection was pretty good, covering a good range of styles and suited to meet the needs of nearly everyone. The price of a pint was $5, pretty much what I'd expect to pay.
I didn't sample any food but a look at the menu showed they serve all the usual pub fare, and at reasonable prices. The service was acceptable. The young gal behind the bar was rather disinterested in waiting on me but I rather expected that, given I had my wife and kid in tow. Still, I got my beer promptly and we settled up my tab with no problems so I was good with it.
Overall, I'd like to get back to the Coronado Brewing Co. to get a better opinion of all their beers. I'll make a point of stopping in and staying longer the next time I'm on Coronado Island. Worth checking out.
