I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA.
Appearance: rich, dark amber-brown hue with no haze and a light effervescence. Head is a finger of frothy tan foam which leaves a nice lace on the glass. Quite good.
Smell: lightly caramel aroma with a nice sweetness. Pretty light in intensity, but it's nice.
Taste: I'm not usually a huge fan of ambers, but Double Redoubt is working for me. There's a good caramel character, but it's not too biscuity or bready for me. Hop bitterness is moderate, and comes on slow at the end. Definitely a nice cold-weather beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a low level of carbonation. The body is nice, but it's not particularly creamy.
Overall: a tasty and quite drinkable amber, especially at the 7% level. Good stuff.
