Poured from a 12-oz. bottle into my Terrapin pint glass.

Appearance: Deep copper, or, more accurately, a rich honey color. Rather thin, whitish head and no lacing; with a thicker head, this could have looked really excellent. Good as is, though.

Smell: Honey and alcohol. 11% alcohol... honey pilsner... I guess it follows, right? I would have liked something else too, though, but with a beer of this sort, I'm not sure what.

Taste: Again, honey and alcohol. Noticing a trend? This beer does exactly what it sets out to do, which is a) taste like honey, and b) get you drunk. As a matter of fact, though, the honey taste isn't overwhelming; it isn't too rich. The alcoholic taste nearly overpowers it, actually. I'm trying hard to detect other flavors here, but in vain. Maybe some faint malt, but not much.

Mouthfeel: Decently thick and carbonated. It's not as thick as a honey liqueur, like Baerenjaeger, but it works.

Drinkability: Did I mention this has 11% alcohol per volume? Well, if I didn't, it has 11% alcohol per volume. This isn't a weak beer. Also, it tastes like honey; did I mention that? I don't have as much of a taste now for sweet beers as I did three years ago, but this is still quite enjoyable, and if I had the tolerance for it, I might - might! - have another. For now, one suits me fine.

A solid beer; I've never had anything quite like it, and I've had a lot of different beers. Definitely worth trying.

Chilled bottle into shaker pint. Best Before date 5.16.13.

Look- Darker than typical for a pilsner, somewhere around light amber. Big, crackly head to start, settles down to a half-finger of off-white froth that sticks around for a while. Plenty of visible carbonation. Respectable lacing for the ABV.

Smell- Reminds me of shortbread or honey-spread fresh biscuits. Quite sweet, but not overly so for something with honeycomb on the bottle.

Taste- This is where I did a double-take and checked the label. I hadn't realized that this one weighed in at 11%; go figure. Good one on me for that. It's not boozy at all, but I was expecting something a bit lighter. Honey, biscuit, pilsener malt. Something of a dried mango/pineapple flavor. Aftertaste is of honey and cream soda. A beer to savor.

Mouthfeel- Smooth, exceptionally so. Mild carbonation is present on the sip, but overall it feels like drinking twice-steeped tea with honey and cream. Pretty clean, surprisingly dry finish. Not a quick drinker.

Overall- It's not bold for an 11% brew, and I'd certainly recommend having this as the first beer of the night, as the light toasty-honey-nougat flavor would be easy to lose and otherwise it's fairly plain. I'd have a second if I'd bought more than the one bottle... and stop there, this could be dangerous. I'm not sure how the brewers pulled this one off, but bravo- this could have easily been a sticky, sweet, boozy mess and it comes off as a pleasant well-balanced sipper. Even without any other double-honey 10%+ lagers to compare this to, I feel pretty strongly that this one would be significantly better than average.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 3/1/12.

A - Pours a bright amber color with perfect clarity. There is no head whatsoever. I may have mistaken it for apple juice if it weren't for the very thin white halo clinging to the circumference of the surface. Not much in the lacing department. I guess the lack of head and clarity could be attributed to the style and high alcohol, but it doesn't look much like a beer to me.

S - Extremely sweet aroma. Honey, citrus, grape juice, and alcohol are the primary smells. I can't help but think that this beer smells exactly like Wild Irish Rose. Way too sweet and boozey. I am not looking forward to the first sip.

T - The honey makes itself known from the very beginning. Sweet cherry, apple, and black grape juice accompany some bready malt. The alcohol is surprisingly well hidden. It is very sweet, but not cloying. It tastes a bit like a beer/wine/cider hybrid.

M - Medium body with some subtle carbonation. Clean finish without much alcohol burn.

O - I received this beer as an extra in a trade and wasn't sure what to expect from this "Pilsner." It is brewed with honey, so I knew it would be sweet. The smell was nauseating, but the flavor was acceptable. Good fruit flavors and no sign of the 11% alcohol. I am glad it wasn't a bomber, because I was growing tired of it by the end of the 12 oz. pour. To be fair, it wasn't the worst beer I have tried and I always appreciate unique and experimental brews. I don't endorse this beer fully, but if you tend to like beers with some wine or cider characteristics, give it a try.
