Frosted shaker of draft at Longhorn Steak House in Greenville, SC
Aroma - can't detect any
Head - decapitated by bartender; what remains is an off-white 2 mm ring and broken layer
Lacing poor - rare island of tiny bubbles
Body medium amber, clear
Flavor - some malt detected; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate light to medium, watery, aggressive carbonation

Appearance 3, Aroma 1, Flavor 2.5, Palate 2.5, Overall 2.25

Not very good but who knows how well the restaurant maintains its tap lines. I do give the Longhorn in Greenville credit for serving a local brew.

Look: A clear, medium gold, with visible carbonation. The color is rather light for the style. The head is large, white, and resilient.

Smell: Quite a bit of diacetyl, even for an Irish Red. The rest of the aroma profile consists of sweet malt and caramel. Not an excellent bouquet, but not off-putting, either.

Taste: The malt bill exhibits bready, toasty, and grainy flavors, with an appropriately dry, roasty finish. Caramel gives the beer an obvious, but is balanced nicely with the malt. Very low bitterness. A fine, classic Red Ale in the Irish style.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body and medium carbonation produce a refreshing, part sessionsable/part sippable mouthfeel. Even with a 6.2% ABV, some light alcohol warming adds a hearty sensation.

Overall: Not the most tip top Irish Red I've had, but definitely a solid, traditional recipe. It just needs a little more polish and finesse. In its current state, especially with the diacetyl factor, it reminds me of an award winning homebrew ...in a small, regional competition.

No idea how old this is, but it's a gusher. Took 5 minutes to see what color it was. It's amber with a billowing cream head. Aroma is metallic, with nutty notes and specialty malt fruitiness. Flavor is also metallic and nutty, with herbal hop notes. That metallic character dominates, though. Becomes phenolic as it warms.
