Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Maybe I pour harder than most people, but I got a big three finger tan head atop a brown/ruby clear colored beer. Looks pretty appetizing. Head recedes to 1 finger and leaves nice amounts of lacing as it falls.

First thing I pick up is orange/citrus. Hints of milk chocolate and some earthiness from the hops. No alcohol scent at all. Smells quite nice actually. When you hold the beer away and waft it you get more chocolate. I'm pleasantly surprised by the smell.

Again, very surprised by this beer. I'm usually not an IPA guy but this is a pretty well balanced beer. By reading some of the other reviews I feel maybe I have either a much older or a much fresher bottle than others? This is quite tasty and very refreshing. Some slight citrus on the nose. Bitterness on the finish from the hops and some earthy notes. Some pine also. I'm sure the chocolate is for looks in this beer because I don't pick any up in the taste. Slight alcohol warmth as it slides down your throat. Again, really nice.

Mouthfeel is nice. Mildly carbonated and refreshing. Leaves a nice little coating of bitterness after you swallow.

Overall this is a pretty good beer. I'm extremely surprised because I'm not a huge fan of other Thomas Creek products but this beer is actually quite nice. I could definitely drink this again.

A: Pours a very dark amber with a bubbly thin gray head that dissipates quickly

S: Strong citrus as well as sweet apple and passion fruits, with a hint of chocolate malt at the end

T: Dark chocolate with a malty sweetness. There is a tartness and coffee like acidity, but no citrus flavors

M: keeps a lot of the crispness of an IPA, but is a bit thicker feeling

O: pretty good. Finds a good balance between Chocolatey sweetness and the refreshing nature of an IPA. Could use more citrus.

The pour was orange red in color, clear, and formed a thin head a little less than one finger tall. The smell was typical of an East Coast IPA, in the earthy, herbal, soothing quality. The taste was where the chocolate first revealed itself, as there was a splash of cocoa across the tip of the tongue before the hops overcame if with spicy pungency. There wasn't much orange peel flavor, except maybe a hint in the finish. This was certainly a good deal more complex than a run of the mill IPA. In fact I would on or to say that it was more a hoppy red ale, like the Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster, than it was an IPA. The feel of the body was thicker than most IPA's, as there was a heft to it. I liked this experiment quite a bit.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle

A- pours an interesting ruby/amber color with an off white head that hangs for quite a bit. Nice lacing throughout, sip after sip.

S- hints of citrus, a slight orange tone, with some hoppy notes

T- very subtle, but sweet chocolate on the front with a citrusy orange and bitter chocolate finish. Pretty impressive blend really. One of a kind.

M- a bit harsh up front with strong carbonation and Dryness from the hops that make my mouth pucker a bit. After swallowing and licking my lips I taste the slight chocolate presence with orange, but also delicious hops and biscuity malts.

O- very interesting beer. Definitely not a sessionable brew at 7.5% and with all the flavor it will do a number on your palette. Definitely worth trying!
