My favorite "upper tier" bar in Louisville. They are frequently having beer related events and have recently hosted a Dogfish Head night and the Bell's Eccentric Cafe.

This place becomes crowded fast after 5pm. Its not a tiny place, but it is small. They recently opened up a new area upstairs that helps out and they are also working on an outdoor garden area that im excited about for the spring and summer months.

The food is OUTSTANDING. The chef is top notch here. I cant tell you how wonderful everything is. They really made the menu to complement the beer amazingly well. You honeslty need to try at least everything on the menu once.

Its not the cheapest bar in Louisville. If you plan to eat and have a few drinks, its probably going to run you about $50-$60 per couple depending on what you get of course.

The beer selection varies week to week with a few things staying or popping up more frequently than others. I happened to stop in a few months back and they had SharkPants on tap. That was an amazing drink. They often get some really rare stuff on tap so needless to say, I stop by frequently.

This is a bar that is in a class of its own. My favotire gastropub in town for dinner and drinks! (1,216 characters)

I had lived in Kentucky for nearly 6 years before we made the trip up to Louisville and this was a must stop.

This is place has a very classic and vintage vibe without feeling old or dated. This place can get a bit cramped on a Friday or Saturday night but there is room upstairs in a well hidden choir loft as well as a nice patio in the back. Selection is solid with something for every beer lover. Standouts available on our visit were Zombie Dust and Wekken sour. Glassware is always appropriate as well. Service was solid for such a chaotic Saturday night. Be warned this is a place being swarmed with hipsters who are found throughout the city frequenting the places most timely in fashion. This place has been cool for a very long time and shows no sign of letting up. Food was solid as we tried the Cheese plate and pretzel with beer cheese. In a city with many options in a growing beer scene, this one stands out as a star. (945 characters)

Delicious beer from all over the world. I recommend the English Nth Cloud and the Hitochino Ginger Ale. (103 characters)

Absolutely, hands down, the best place anywhere within a 100 mile radius (if not more). Everything about it is awesome. Took .25 off Vibe for anyone who needs to check out a sporting event on TV (as there aren't any) - doesn't deter from the good times in my opinion, but also don't feel comfortable giving 5's across the board for some reason (345 characters)

This place is the sh!t. I don't give usually give 5s but this place deserves the score.

A super cool environment, created from a renovated old church with loft and spacey patio. A cool draft board hand-drawn with chalk.

Attention to detail is the best way to sum up this place.

The quality and selection of beer is where this place really shines. Let's be honest, three kegs of Fune in 2014 - what more can you say. Well, several other kegs and tons of bottles of Cantillon, KBS for the 4th of July, Zwanze Day, and CBS for New Years.

My only complaint, it gets very busy for big days and lines are common, but that goes with the territory. The staff are great folks and give good recommendations for those that don't know what to go for. I visit regularly and they always are super friendly.

The food - equal quality as the beer. The truly professional chef always has great specials, but the burger and frites are my favorite. Not cheap but worth every penny. Once again, their attention to detail is noticeable.

I selfishly wish this place would remain a secret but that's too late. (1,093 characters)

Quite simply the greatest beer bar I've ever been to. Service lacked a little due to it being around zwanze but this is a VERY special place with the upmost respect for wild ales. (179 characters)

There is no room for criticism, they are too perfect. I have been going to this place since the week it opened, and they have never disappointed me. I have never had anything less than a great time at the Grale. (211 characters)

A rather small bar area downstairs with an even smaller bar area upstairs. They must do a good business because while it was quieter on Monday Tuesday the place was almost full. I liked that this place was a little quieter, no TVs. Bartenders were very nice and knowledgeable. Their tap list was very nicely mixed you could find something for everyone on it, although the real star of the show was their bottle list. The list had some very nice sours and they had the Bourbon County 12 oz bottles available which is just nice to see on a bottle list. Well thought out draft and bottle list. Place is a tad hipster, but you'll have that in most craft bars. (660 characters)

What a neat place, great atmosphere and some serious hidden gems. If you are in the Louisville area, swing by and have a brew. On the way out grab a bottle of some limited brew surprising you behind the counter. Its a small former church, but packs a big punch. Keep in mind I am a Jersey boy, this place is worth a look. (321 characters)
