The beer was given to me a clear golden amber with a very low yet lasting head which lingered wispy at the surface of the brew but was able to lace the glass.
The aroma was slightly acidic with a subtle sourness and a lactic character. The aroma was light with fruity blackberry character and a slightly earthy nose.
The flavor was wheat with a slight earthiness. The sourness was only very slight and the fruity flavor contained some tannins as if from oak aging.
The finish was dry with a lasting light blackberry fruit and wheat into the aftertaste. The body was medium light and the carbonation was low, but fine. It was a nice beer, but seemed to be missing some complexity often found in true lambics from the bacteria and yeast. The notes on the table said it was aged 3 years and that it was a blend of Grand Cru and Lambic.
Pint at the French Broad Pubhouse, $6 a pint.
Serving type: on-tap
