Pours a dark copper body supporting just over an inch of bone white foam that recedes relatively quickly leaving some thin rings of lacing.Aroma consists predominantly of herbal spiciness, brown bread, dirt weed and mild pine.Flavor profile contains strong tea leaf hoppiness, dull citrus, blonde tobacco, aspirin and sourdough.Mouthfeel is light/medium with a rough, edged hop bitterness and an almost tinny malt finish.Lightly resinous.Overall,a mediocre hoppy rye beer in my opinion.

S-Malty, a hint of sour rye graininess and a bit of earthy hops.

T-Nice. A bit sour in the front and some nice sweet malt and some mild hop bite in the finish.

M-Light to medium bodied and a bit dry.

D-Tasty, sessionable,

This is the first French Broad (love the name) beer I have ever picked up. The Rye Hopper was poured into a standard pint glass, and it looked darker than I was expecting. The body was a deep shade of copper and clear, and the head atop was foamy. I did not see any carbonation streamers. The smell was sweet and fruity, which is odd for a beer named Rye Hopper. The taste was also sweet and mildly bitter. The bready taste was followed by a bit of spiciness. The body was soft, but this beer lacked the carbonation to make it feel creamy. Easy to drink for sure, but not the most memorable beer made with Rye.

Pours amber brown with red around the edges and a small soapy head. Aroma is heavy on the spice, with a dash of dish soap smell, sweet caramel and toffee, and a tinge of pine. Flavor very much highlights the rye, spicey black pepper, some pine bite, bit of dark dry fruit with serious dry finish. Has some qualities of a dubbel but without much sweetness. Light to medium mouthfeel that finishes dry. Very true to the rye here, and does not go all IPA on you like a lot of "rye" pales do. I respect that.

22 oz into a pint

A - Pours a clear, golden to brown color. Somewhat opaque, but no floating materials. Head formation is light, off white in color. Starts at 1mm, breaks down to a film.

S - A big time grainy, somewhat sweet, rye nose. The astringency of that malt is very apparent. Some american hopping is noticeable, but only in the background.

T - Starts off lightly sweet, 2 row malt, clean barley. In comes a very earthy, grainy rye note - astringency begins to grow. Mid-stream gets more stinging, biting grain notes. Finishes with the first recognizable hops.

M - Higher carbonation, moderate beer body. Stinging carbonation overcomes any shortcomings in the body. Finishes with a grainy astringent tongue grabbing film.

D - Moderate drinkability. This beer's rye-ness is probably good to style, but not good for sessioning. A bit abusive to the tongue, could be more balanced. Higher carbonation can be filling.

Not a bad looking brew. Woody auburn color topped by an initially large tan, finely bubbled head. Aroma is of decomposing leaves, wood, mulch mixed with cocoa, orange pulp, sweet grain and spice. Taste is interesting. Earthy cocoa + mulch, root veggies (perhaps beets and/or potatoes), rye tartness, and a little caramel. Texture is slippery smooth, undisturbed by the extra fine carbonation. All the while, various flavors slide around within a medium body. The slickness makes this go down very easy, leaving the the mouth thinly coated.

This is an interesting brew. A nice change of pace from the all the IPAs I've been drinking lately.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a dark caramel body that is crystal clear with a slow carbonation of bubbles that feed a bubbly beige head.

S- The light aroma of soft herbal pungent hops is soft and finishes with a plastic aroma that grows as the beer warms. The hop aroma does not grow as it warms.

T- The dry biscuit toasted notes give way to a green spicy hop flavor that compliments a spicy rye note aswell. There is a soft but full vegital pungency and a green grapefruit pith note that lingers. Some citrus notes come through in the hops as the beer opens.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a soft fizzy hint in the finish.

O- This beer has a nice malt flavor with some good soft rye spice to compliment the hops, but the only real hops flavor is a strong pungent bitterness and not a lot of hop flavor and aroma.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a slightly hazed, amber-highlighted copper coloring with a frothy, foamy, off-white head and a ton of carbonation action throughout the body. Aromas of hops first and foremost, with a resinous blast, moss and pine, and some subtle tropical fruit, all on a roasted and slightly bitter, grain backbone. Flavors are more of the bitter and pungent rye forward, with a bitterness around the edges from the hops, resinous notes, and citrus highlights. Smooth, light bodied, with a crisp endfeel. The aftertaste has a bit more of the citrus notes coming to the palate, with the bitter grains still providing a solid foundation. The finish has a grainy and citrus linger. Not bad overall, very balanced, and the light body keeps it refreshing.

A - Dark honey/amber, near white head leaves to ring fast. Some cling lace apparent.

S - Very barny. Gamey. Not in a bad way, but very in your face.

T - Taste is much more subtle. Light malt, nice hops finish. Decent stuff.

M - Fair carb and coat, good balance, slight acidic flavor at end.

D - Very easy to drink.

Bomber with no freshness dating that pours a clear, dark amber body with a one-finger light tan head. A small amount of lacing.

The aroma is akin to an APA with some grassy/piney hop notes and a little bready malt. I got a strong scent of the rye upon the first pour, but it faded very quickly.

The flavor follows the aroma closely with a touch more of the malt flavor present than in the aroma. I also get more of the rye flavor in the taste. Fairly well blended overall.

Light texture in the mouthfeel and relatively drinkable overall. Not a show-stopper, but a decent offerning.

Pours a dark amber color, with an off white head, left plenty spongy lace. Aroma was floral with the hops, some citrus, spicy rye, caramel sweetness. Tastes of citrus, sweet nuttiness, spicy, fruity rye notes, hints of pine. Bitterness is medium. Body is medium, low to medium carbonation. Drinkability is good, easy to quaff.

Nice ipa, not world class, but enjoyable.

thick off white head that rose to about two fingers high and left a thick coating of lacing all around the glass. a rich thick lacing ensued throughout the glass.

aroma is thick hoppy goodness, a rich aroma with a hint of spice comes through on the nose right away. really nice blended notes of pine resin, warm malts, a nice touch of buttery middle and a touch of rye. really well done and this carries over to the flavor perfectly. smooth, effortless feel on this one delivers a light hoppy goodness with hints f spiced rye and buttery malts. nice clean finish with a light dryness and a touch of kick to wind it down.

overall a really soli rye beer. a bit hoppier then most
