On tap at the brewery, day after the wonderful Lexington Ave Arts and Fun Festival. Poured into a pint by a cute, charmingly working-class barmistress.

A. Obviously unfiltered, this goes into the pint a dense, tangerine-copper with a tiny, sticky head. Active bubbles. Not the greatest; rather looks raw.

S. Malty-rich (yet not sweet) pale ale notes with a wallop of wet-earth, dank cascade smellin' hop. Yellow grapefruit, dry, almost rustic in a way, slightly spicy and interesting smelling. Not overpowering. Balanced.

T. Very nice hop profile here, resinous and low-long grapefruit bitterness lingers, but does not blow away the hefty malt backbone that gives the hops a spacious playground to romp in. Notes of toffee, toasted grain and that dank, fresh hop stickiness intermingle. Refreshing. Very similar to how I remember Sierra's fresh hop brew; which is to say, good. Has Cascade writ all over it. I believe I heard the hops were locally picked.

M / D. Well carbonated, a citric-hop bite fades after a few seconds in the finish, leaving you craving more. Softish on the palate, the hops are lovely and I like the fact that this is 5.5%... if I wasn't getting on the highway soon I'd easily enjoy another!

LAFF is a very solid beer from Asheville's most underappreciated brewery. You might not get to try it till next year, but keep an eye out. French Broad continues to impress.

copper tone, with a good sized head that has some nice clumping and staying power as well as some decent lacing throughout. Smell is wonderfully hopped, like a pine cone dipped in orange juice! Fantastic full hoppy smell. Taste is right up with the smell. Full on hops from the gate. Piney, very grassy and citus, AWESOME. Very smooth with a nice dry aftertaste that begs you to come back
