Exceptional Rotating Draught List and expansive bottle selection. Excellent food and great atmosphere; my favorite bar in New Haven!

We have been here 3 times now, each afternoon visits.
Space is well laid out, lighting good, not to loud. I can see that change with 200 people.
Staff is attentive without being overbearing. The menu is well curated, and the beer list is comprehensive.
We each had 2 small plates and 2 drafts, the value to expense is solid. Not inexpensive but well done.
Enjoy a trip to New Haven and check them out.

Cheers all

The Cask is a wonderful place to go. It has a really nice vibe inside. Beer selection is very good with a rotating list and dedicated warm lines. Usually have some good NEBCO stuff on draft which is always wonderful. It's in New Haven, so no parking lot (street parking or pay lots). Wish they had a few more beer dinners during the year, but all in all a really nice place.

Very nice atmosphere: huge and roomy, tons of seats, and lots of dark grain wood. Looks fairly new.

Everything was good-to-excellent. I had a beer on cask, and even though I was the first to have it that day, it wasn't freezing cold or anything - perfect cellar temperature.

Service is my one complaint. There was one server, which isn't that bad, as the place wasn't jam-packed. However, service was lackluster and apathetic, if friendly enough. Service wasn't bad or rude; it just could have been much better.

Great, great selection of taps. The website claims 56 taps; I didn't count them, but I can vouch that 40+ seems legit, and every single tap was craft, from around the states and the world. Lagunitas, Maine Beer, Allagash, Brooklyn, Green Flash, St. Bernardus (Christmas), La Trappe, Delirium Noel, Two Roads, New England Brewing, Rodenbach, Stillwater, Ommegang, Goose Island, Victory, Clown Shoes, Oskar Blues, Sixpoint, Stone, Dogfish Head...you get the point.

The variation was nice, too: yeah, they had Laggy IPA, but they'd just had GI BCBS, and currently had GI Illinois IIPA. Other options were similarly varied, from BSDAs and Saisons to IIPAs and stouts. Just a great, great selection.

They also had a local brew exclusively for their restaurant and one other, as well as a cask brew from Thornbridge Brewing, England.

I had a portobello sandwich with fries, both of which were excellent. The food menu wasn't huge, but everything looked good.

The food runs a slight bit pricey for the fair, but it is quite good, and the beer prices were very good. It overall averages out.

I can't vouch for the competition in New Haven, but I can definitely vouch for this spot: swing by, bring some friends, and try some beer that you've never had before. You won't be disappointed.

Visited on a night during the week while in New Haven:

Overall, this is a good place to stop in for a beer given the large selection on tap as well as in bottles. The night that I showed up they had Harpoon IPA on cask, which I have had before, and the keg of De Dolle that was their featured beer, they were out of, so I was a little concerned at first when trying to order. Eventually I landed on one that they had, a Berkshire Brewing Com Kolsch, served in a 12oz glass. I got to say that I was at least expecting 16oz, so the rating took a little hit for that. I had had a New England Brewing Co Belgian and a Stone best by 05.17.13 DIPA. The latter two served in tulip glasses, which the head of the beer was not even to the top of the glass. So, another strike and when I protested to the waitress, her only response was that they are strong beers so you get less. I did not find this to be acceptable. Ordered some food as well, fish and chips. The fries were good, the fish, while crispy on the outside, was a bit underdone on the inside. The place had a large variety of breweries and styles. The place did feel a bit corporate too me, maybe that was because of the Yale party going on. I liked the feel of Prime 16 and the Bru Room better. Also, given the small glasses, I did feel that the place was a bit pricey.

If I am ever back in New Haven, I will stop in for a beer or two.
