Pours a near black color and opaque from the side when viewed inside. Very light tan head that dissipates to a thin layer. Nose offers a pleasant combination of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and rich caramel. Maybe a hint of nougat in there. On the palate I'm finding a really big bitter chocolate, roasty qualities, and plenty of bitterness. Some herbal hop qualities dominate towards the end. Finish is hoppy and herbal with some bitter chocolate aftertaste.

330ml stubbie, the first Swiss-made beer on the shelves of Alberta liquor stores that I've yet seen, though it must be from the Italian-speaking part of the country, based on the labeling, despite the 'Bad Attitude' branding.

This beer pours a very, very, very dark, somewhat hazy brown colour, with ruddy cola highlights, and one finger of tight fizzy, foamy beige head, which leaves some random stringy lace around the glass as it duly recedes.

It smells of roasted caramel malt, milk chocolate powder, further timid lactic notes, and fruity, earthy hops. The taste is still quite toasty, the caramel joined by some earthy coffee, bolstered sour milk, leafy hops, and a slightly metallic booze warming.

The carbonation is fairly average, just a bit zingy, the body a solid medium weight, and a tad thin at the same time, though it doesn't really affect the overall rounded smoothness a great deal. It finishes more woody and roasted as things move on - with the underlying tangy malt playing the unsung hero of it all.

A fairly decent traditional porter - the deftly charred grain, the expired milk undertones, all with a bigger than average booze that does well to integrate, and thus ingratiate, itself. The wee bottle seemed to be gone before its time!

Dark brown, with mushroom cloud of a head, flash, and gone. A medium roasting, affirmed by its aroma. Medium mouthfeel, smooth not thick. Easily drinkable. Not exceptional tasty, some light chocolate and oily, some molasses. Coffee, mollasses, too sweet.

11.2 oz. thick looking cola black pour, just a thin layer of white head. Retained very well though. Minimal lacing.

Aroma, lots of molasses and sweeter chocolates. A nice malty backbone.

Taste, very chocolatey, though not as sweet as the aroma. Peaty malt, some light roast and smoke. Cocoa and some dark roast coffee finish. Some hop bitters are faintly here as well.

Solidly medium body. Carbonation is fine and smooth. Drinks easy, hides the abv well. Really liked this, though a little pricey. Would reccomend.

Must admit, totally drawn to the stubby little 330ml bottle. Don't think I've had anything from Switzerland either.

Color is black, some brown edges faintly at the bottom of the glass. Finger of fluffy dark beige colored head, nice lace and okay retention.

You can definitely get a hint of alcohol on the nose, with bittersweet chocolate, some tree nuts, a deep roasted coffee note, with a bit of toffee and caramel.

It has a fudge- like taste, with chocolate and roasted notes. Touch of astringency, and alcohol, rather mildly. Hints of roast coffee and cream.

There's a creamy texture, bordering medium and full in body. Carbonation is adequate.

It's pretty good and I don't have a lot to complain about with it. Enjoying the fudgy quality.

From a 330 ml brown stubby bottle. Pours out a deep dark brown, almost black, yet not quite opaque as it reveals a translucent cola hue when held up to light. Two fingers of creamy beige head that retains well.

Dark malt and dry grainy roasted malt appear on the nose, spicy and grassy hops as well.

Dark roasty malt starts out the flavour, turning into a grainy, almost sour character, drying out on the finish and aftertaste with some mild herbal, spicy hops, while some citrus pith appears farther into the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium-full, with a creamy smooth full texture, and low carbonation.

Touches on the key aspects of the style however there's no real character to it, and lacks a bit in the malt department, especially intensity to match the hops.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a cloudy consistency. There was a big, foamy, tan-colored, long-lasting head. Very good lacing.

S: A subtle aroma of malt, chocolate, and hops.

T: Tasted of chocolate, a bit of malt, a hint of coffee, and some hops in the finish. At first the flavor seemed a little harsh (especially in the finish), but gradually grew on me. A good, balanced taste.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry, smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: On the whole, a solid effort. A drinkable beer.

Poured from 330mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: extremely dark brown and non-translucent. There's half a finger of tan foam atop, which is nice.

Smell: nice roasty and chocolatey aroma, but also a little bit sour. Decent enough, but I think it could be a little cleaner.

Taste: quite roasty indeed with a big black-malt astringency and bitterness. A sweeter chocolate character is present toward the end, but this doesn't quite smooth out the harshness up front. So, not bad, but like the aroma this could be cleaned up a little.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a great level of well-integrated carbonation. Smooth and creamy; love it!

Overall: I love the texture, but the rest of the experience, while tasty, is a bit on the harsh side. Perhaps expected for a beer of this strength, but smoother brews exist at this ABV.

330ml stubby bottle poured into tulip 9/4/12

A dark brown with cola edges, fairly tame pour with just a short lived film for head and no lace

S coco powder and some sweet cold coffee with a little smoke and chocolate raisins

T a little charred wood and darker coffee with what I smell, just a little booze but pretty mellow for the strength

M more bubbles then I would expect from the pour, a little thin for the color but the bubbles help its cause, long aftertaste of char

O pretty good beer with well concealed booze, could use a little body and the pour was a little lame but tastes and smells pretty nice

Even after visiting Switzerland this is somehow my first Swiss brew, mind you I was only there one day and didn't get too drink much beer

Recently stumbled across my notes from The Festival 2012. Lets do this!

A - Poured a nice creamy dark brown hue with a good light tan head that fades to leave a nice thin blanket.

S - Aromas of sweet malts, light roast, nice chocolates.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice chocolates, sweet roasty malts. Very balanced.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit too carbonated for my liking. Would like it a bit smoother.

O - Overall, a solid porter offering from Switzerland. Solid.

11.2oz bottle poured into a shaped pint glass...

A: Black; opaque; three-finger, sudsy, light tan head; swaths of sugary lace and swell retention.

S: Chocolate syrup; roasty char; very full aroma.

T: Dark chocolate; malted milk; cocoa; light coffee notes; bitter finish - a blend of hop and acrid malt flavor.

M: Full body; moderate carbonation; dry finish.

O: A nice porter - much better than their Hobo IPA; surprisingly hoppy; full taste and feel, yet hard to believe the abv is at 8+%.

250ml bottle served in a pint glass.

A: Pours a deep black color forming a big and creamy beige head when (aggressively) poured. Good retention and tons of lingering lacings left in the glass

S: Very roasted in the nose. Delicious notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate. Quite bready and biscuity, smells like liquid Oreo :p. Some notes of flowery hops and light notes of alcohol

T: Great taste. Strong notes of roasted malts. Light notes of dark chocolate and brown bread, Slightly sweet upfront followed by a pleasant bitterness. Interesting hoppy bitterness in the and of the roasted bitterness

M: Heavy creamy body. medium to low carbonation. Smooth texture. Good quality water. roasted bitterness aftertaste

O: Great drinkability. Excellent quality beer. Swiss classic. A beer that I'm gonna drink again, for sure
