This bottle of fourth Anniversary is having its third birthday. I can't say that it aged well either, though the alcohol content stayed intact.
Appearance is hazy red brown and the taste is perfectly murky. "Tomato soup," sez my wife after a sip. I guess you could call it figs, definitely a sticky, fruity, treacly brew with a flavor I can only describe as oxidized.
Sharp and hot, slightly bitter but more like the dank behind the garbage disposal. I'm afraid to pour this one on the plants. From the 22 oz bottle from the refrigerated shelves at Ibis Market in Mission Hills.

Poured from a bomber bottle sealed in wax.
L - A beautiful medium brown color that reveals perfect clarity and golden highlights when held up to the light. Head is tan colored, thick and made up of tiny bubble that form sheets and swirl around as you drink.
S - Lovely aromas of malt; gingerbread, raisins, figs, plums, molasses, low cracked grain. There is also an alcohol note with a mix of sherry and rum. Low oak note. Little in the way of Belgian yeast.
T - Rich grainy and bready malt flavors along with an earthy, fruitiness that and slight tartness (hops?). Light oak. Clean, crisp finish.
F - Medium body. Moderate, creamy carbonation. Light to medium hops bitterness. Moderate alcohol presence.
O - This is a hugely complex beer with malt, dark fruit and wood notes mixing with substantial alcohol, Bravo!

Drank when first released and found to be quite delicious. Saved a bottle and aged for another year. Did not age well and I was surprised. Developed a metallic taste, almost coppery. Could have been my fault but I did store in a cool dark place. Any thoughts?
