Pours a clear, medium brown color with a quickly attenuating, even. The aroma consists of dark roasted malt, notes of chocolate, and coffee acidity. The mouthfeel is magnificent. Perfect balance between the carbonation and creaminess perfectly accentuate the woody chocolate, ripe, dark fruit, and coffee acidity flavors. Neil loves this beer. So do I.

Poured bomber of Davy Brown into a glass:

A: Pours a medium brown that allows plenty of light through. Visible carbonation. This stuff looks just like rootbeer. Head is about a finger thick. Medium retention, very pronounced lacing.

S: This stuff smells very organic. Earthy comes to mind. Roasted malts persist.

T: Taste isn't very strong. Similar to the smell, it tastes very earthy with some hints of roasted malts. Pretty bitter. Ends on a boozy note.

M: Oily, with light carbonation. Kind of a wet finish.

O: Overall, I wasn't all that impressed with this one. There's definitely better stuff out there.

Davy Brown is a very solid brown ale that gives me everything I want when I order a brown. Nice rich roasted malt flavors with just a hint of a hop bite.

Looks like coca cola with a head. Smells a little nutty and a little cocoa.

Taste is less pronounced than the smell but much the same.

finishes smooth and good like a good brown should.

a: its a mix of dark dark purple and dark ruby red. only a hint of brown in the center of the glass. 2 finger white solid head

s: sweet caramel malts, raisins, plums, a nice toasted chestnut aroma. nose finishes with a nice clove spice and a hint of grass. a little alcohol in here as well

t: there is a much bigger roasted malt in the flavor than i picked up on in the aroma. also a nice amount of chocolate - milk & bittersweet. there is just the slightest hint of plums, which is a nice addition. all the rounded out and by a nice mellow chestnuty flavor. as in the nose, the very faintest hint of alcohol. there is some bitterness and astringency at the back of the tongue which lingers a little bit - i could do without this

m: its a creamy medium mouthfeel. not much carbonation, but not flat

o: liked this more than i expected to. i enjoy the chestnut flavors i'm perceiving in here. my biggest problem is the lingering bitterness and astringency at the back of the tongue that i didn't really taste until the aftertaste. still though, worth a try
