Thanks hophound
OOFah. Gusher. But the smell leapt from the cascade. Huge frothy white eruption settles, eventually, to a patchy white slick. Peachy gold colored and slightly opaque.
Nose is bright, fruity apricot, lemon blossom, yeasty but not overly funky, and a mild sour note.
Taste is more subdues, less bright. The apricot starts a bit fresh, but as it warms it goes in a more meaty dried apricot direction. Unexpected, but really pleasing. Mildly sour.
mouthfeel is smooth, moderate carbonation (once it settled).
Overall, I'd like to hit a fresh bottle to see if it is more dynamic. This bottle was a few years old.

Thanks to leftpaw for bringing this out around the pool July 2018.

Apricot beer pours a mostly apricot color, perhaps a tad more amber in color to it. Good 2/3" white head. The aroma was that of apricots, largely overshadowing a purported saison base at almost 8% alcohol? Actually, this bottle actually says 8%, not the 7.7% listed here. Has that wild ale meets saison kind of aroma.

Taste, wow, there is a slight belgian yeast presence, but not really in the mold of saison, more like a tripel. There is a sourness, but it is relatively on the tame side compared to some. But that largely falls by the wayside as the apricots seem to be the largest flavor profile. More booziness, maltiness and bitterness than I would have expected. Would be a better beer if almost everything was dialed down a little here. I dunno, I really like apricot but this one fell short. Love what Le Cumbre does with their hoppy stuff, but this saison wasn't popping off for me.

This brew looks amazing upon pour - light brown orange color with a super frothy and thick foam - also super active and continues on throughout with not much of a slow down

Smells of some tart fruit - no real Belgian Yeast scents - smells a bit funky but not in a Saison way - this one smells strongly of pine sap (smells like a Brett fermented beer / Brettanomyces)

Taste is just what I thought based on the smell - there was a slight fruit hint that I picked up on for just a second, but mostly there is this sharp bite of bitter pine and lemon - there is a tiny bit of sweetness at first but it quickly dries out - This definitely tastes like 100% fermented Brett beer - I do not get any Saison/Farmhouse funk and really no spice/herb flavors

Feels just fine - medium bodied with tons of carbonation (probably from the Brett)

Overall - I was not impressed with this one - It is possible that this one was infected and really old as I got it on a discount rack at a liquor store in Colo. Springs - This is normally around $15 but I got it for $5 - I would have been really disappointed with this if I paid full price - La Cumbre is a good brewery and I have never had a bad beer from them - I just wonder if this was supposed to be a Brett tasting beer or if it got infected - as a Saison I don't like this beer, but as a Brett fermented beer it hits the marks and is decent - I have brewed a few clean beers that have been infected by my sour/brett beers, and it's like: "hey, this is now a Brett beer!!" Sometimes you can have some happy little accidents (RIP Bob Ross).

This beer goes all in on apricot flavor, which ends up making it too over the top for its nuanced other flavors. The aftertaste lingers for far too long, so we wish they would've turned this one down just a tad.

750 ml
Gold Foil/Capped
ABV: 8%

Poured into a chalice a pretty nice cloudy dark golden orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy/foamy two-finger plus white head, which also leaves some very nice creamy/foamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with lots of apricots, bananas, tart. The taste is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, with a big apricot note, banana, tarty. Medium body, ABV hidden very well. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Poured into a tulip

Appearance: orange-amber with considerable haze. A massive rocky head swells when poured which lasts indefinitely.

Aroma: the aroma is distinctly Belgian with apricots present. The combo of Belgian yeast and apricots resembles an artificial flavoring.

Flavor: the apricot flavor is present but restrained. The Belgian yeast and apricot combo sounds appealing, but this beer is underwhelming. The flavor isn’t bad, it just is far from possessing any “wow” characteristics.

Mouthfeel: medium – a bit heavy for its 8% abv.

Overall: Meh. I’m not horribly impressed with this beer, and less so given the $13 / 750ml price tag. This will not be a repeat purchase. This is so-so at best, and I would opt for any other untried saison before trying this one again. This beer ranks at the bottom of La Cumbre’s portfolio.

Liquid Apricot Nectar. Less funk more fruit. Almost as if drinking Kearns Nectar. Would drink again.

I bought the Fiever D'Abricot on my last visit to Albuquerque. I thought it was a very good Farmhouse Ale.

Look - Cloudy amber/orange like apple juice with a two inch white head.

Aroma - Apricot slightly sweet

Taste - Lot's of apricot, tart, a bit sweet, some other flavors, citrus, well balanced.

Overall - Medium body, juicy, Quite nice and thirst quenching.

pricey bottles for a beer that i am not sure commands that kind of tag, although i did like it quite a lot. i half expected it to be a wild ale, and it most certainly is not, hardly even a lick of funk or weirdness to the yeast on this one, which seems tame even for the cleaner side of saison. the apricots are prominent though, juicy more like a peach in some respects, and with a little bit of concentrated, almost caramelized or grilled flavor to them, which is nice with the sturdy wheat malt base in here and the seemingly higher protein content it has. the flavor is even more intense than the aroma in terms of the fruit, it comes on a little late, letting the grain set the stage for it, but its really prominent and juicy. it ends up more a fruit beer than a saison in some ways, i miss a more robust or interesting yeast strain, and although the mouthfeel is right (fuller bodied, drier, brightly carbonated), i wish for more flavor contributors than just the apricots. still, its a very well made beer and something a little different from these guys, who are very clearly capable of a lot more than just big danky india pale ale. i would say its good enough to buy a glass of if you see it on tap, but i might pass on a bottle for this price. unless i hear of some remarkable difference between the two i likely wont pick one up. this screams for a brett pitch and a chardonnay barrel...
