This is one monster imperial red!

A very pretty cherry amber color with a thick white head that left a lot of lace.

The hops smack you in the face. Mostly herbal, a touch of citrus. Some sweet caramel malt.

At first sip you get the caramel, but the hops quickly take over. Lovely resinous, piney hops blasting away. A hint of grapefruit.

One hoppy beer. It tasted and felt so good.

Either I figure out how to get this beauty to Maine, or I'm going to have to move to Albuquerque.

Growler from GHB. Thanks!

Dark crimson body topped by a tall eggshell colored head. Big nose on this stuff, loaded with sticky caramelized malts and resinous hops. There's a hint of onion to the nose as it warms, and plenty of malt but little sweetness. The palate instantly brings to mind Double Bastard, but this has a better hop character and less blatant booziness. There's a good bit of caramel malt flavor, but hops steal the show. Resinous, slightly citrusy and herbal, sharply bitter in the finish. The 8.7% is impressively well hidden; this stuff goes down easy for the strength.
