“Summer wheat ale with lime & sea salt.”

Cloudy pale gold, thin layer of foam, breaks to a thin ring, minimal lace.
Aroma of faint lime peel, mild salinity, nothing much in the way of character.

Cloying sweetness, tastes like someone dumped sugar on their Wheaties. Faint lime and salt, safe flavor trend of the moment. Tastes a little like fruity pebbles, odd yeast. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall this is pretty mediocre and doesn’t distinguish itself in any way. Thanks Lee for sharing!

Fairly nice crisp farmhouse saison - seemed more mild and less funky than their usual offerings. No date printed on can. Pours a slightly hazy orange-yellow color with a white cap of filmy head and minimal scant spotty lingering lacing. Smells of muddled fruity hops, mild wheat and Belgian yeast, some spices and malt. Taste follows the nose, good balance, quite pleasant and enjoyable. Smooth mild mouthfeel with good carbonation. Very nicely done!

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 6/1/2015. Pours lightly hazy bright golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, coriander, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of peppery yeast spiciness and light yeasty tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, coriander, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of peppery yeast spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, coriander, wheat, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, coriander, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good saison style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, coriander, and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Color is a strong straw color but the small head quickly disappeared. Zero lacing as this one is extremely under carbonated. Shame as the aroma and taste seem to be there. Perhaps I got a bad can?

I picked up a can of Brewery Vivant's Beach Patrol last week for $3.29 at The Lager Mill. It's a warm night in Mid Michigan and a nice witbier sounds pretty good right now, so lets see how it goes. 2015 Vintage. Poured from a 16oz can into a weizen glass.

A- The can looks good, it's got a good design that goes well with the name and it's just a little eye catching. It poured a sightly cloudy yellow color that took on more of an orange hue when held to the light with a finger and half of white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it didn't leave any lacing behind. This is a nice looking beer, but I wish it some lacing and better head retention.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with a fruit aroma being the first to show up with some pear aromas and stonefruit aromas seeming to stick out the most with some apple and banana aromas showing up in the background. Up next comes some of that farmhouse yeast that's just a little funky and barnyard like. Up next comes a little bit of malts aroma with some coriander showing up towards the end. The aroma is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with malts showing up the first this time imparting some light wheat, pale malts, sweet malts and grainy aroma that goes right into the farmhouse yeast that's on the lighter side like it was in the aroma. Up next comes the same fruity aspects that I got in the aroma and it's followed by just the right amount of coriander showing up on the finish with pretty much no bitterness and some light tartness taking it's place with some fruity and light farmhouse yeast flavors. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, the coriander isn't too overpowering.

M- Very smooth, crisp, a little refreshing, on the light side of being medium bodied, with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice and I thought it was a pretty nice example of a witbier with that typical Vivant twist to make for a nice easy drinking beer with just enough flavor to it This beer has good drinkability, I could drink a couple of these especially on a nice warm day at the beach. What I like the most about this beer is that the coriander wasn't too overpowering, it showed up just the right amount. What I like the least about this beer was the appearance, it could use a little work when it came to lacing and hear retention. I would buy this beer again and I would recommend it as a nice easy drinking summertime beer. All in all I was happy with this beer and it met my expectations for a summer beer from VIvant, it had most of the aspects that I look for in the style with that typical Vivant twist. It's not a favorite Vivant beer, but it is one of the better Coriander beers I've had. Nice job guys, this is a nice easy drinking summer beer.

Pours a golden yellow with a thick foamy inch thick white head. Smell of old vegetables, coriander, old socks, spice, and citrus. Taste of wheat, nice earth hops, ctirus, very dry, very very small sweet spice notes, vegetables, wet cloth, light to medium body with a weak mouth feel. Did not care for this, just felt weak in all the right places, had a ton of weird off flavors/smells, and was too dry to quench my thirst on a hot day.
