A - A solid full inch of deep mocha head, seems to stay around for a while. Beer itself is a pitch black with no red hue.
S - Smell is fairly roasty their is a good hop element and some chocolate.
T - Well the hops are balanced and it has a nice bit of cocoa and a roasty aspect. Finish is kind of dry sort of porter like. Still its fairly good.
M - Medium bodied and kind of slick. Could be a touch creamier.
Overall I enjoyed this like their Christmas ale and will try other things by these guys.

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Pitch black with a one-finger tan head.
S: Smells very heavily of roasted coffee beans, some toasted grains and a hint of bitterness.
M: Roasted grains come through initially, along with coffee beans, but towards the end it turns somewhat flat and bitter.
M: Fairly full-bodied, a nice richness and some carbonation up front, but flat and thin on the finish.
O: Far from the worst porter I've had but also far from the best. Of the three Lager Heads brews I've tried so far, this has been the best and it will be interesting to see more from this relatively new local brewery.

This is quite a heavy and intense stout. Loads of molasses, smoked malts as an accent; it's thick and robust. Falls off a bit quicker than I would hope on the backside. Consistent though. Smooth feel. A nice drinker. Definitely a winter beer though. This would be too much to deal with with warmer weather.

Pours black in color with some deep brown notes shining through the edges of my glass. Small tan colored head.

Smells malty, simple, and faintly of hard water.

Taste: Roasted malts, maybe a bit burnt or smoked. The label says a "warm chocolate finish", however I note nothing about this beer is warm nor chocolatey.

The mouthfeel is definitely quite thin for a stout. Very thin. Its still better than say a budweiser or something, but obviously its supposed to be bigger than anything like that. It may be the thinnest American Stout I have tried. There is nothing "savage" about this stout whatsoever.

Uniquely, that manages to keep this beer more drinkable. Let's call it a stout that you feel comfortable drinking several of over the duration of the day.
