Bottle, no visible date. CBF pint.

A: pours a surprisingly dark orange-copper with a slight haze and streams of small-bubble carbonation. 1/4 finger off-white head lingers as a modest cap. Superb lacing.

S: sweet, citrus and malt. Classic citrus and floral APA. Very traditional. Smells very much like the Elevator Three Frogs I had just a couple of weeks ago.

T: much drier on the palate than the nose. Dry, crisp malt, followed by a mild, floral hop bite. A little soapy. I had high hopes from the smell, but the taste is not doing it for me.

M: lighter side of mid weight, highly carbonated, clean finishing. Crisp and refreshing.

O: when I first moved to Ohio ten years ago, this was a beer I saw on shelves everywhere craft beer was sold, and I never picked it up, then didn’t see it for a while. Now I’ve finally gotten around to it, and am underwhelmed. It is too dry, out of balance. But unlike the new age pales that emphasize imbalance and pull it off with bright, citrusy hops, this is weighed down with a more classic dark, dank citrus with a hint of pine that could use more sweetness. Not my cup of beer. Would not buy again.

Poured from 11-ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Very pretty copper color, with a thick, spongy white head that left scads of lacing as it settled. There was no date on the bottle, but this sample was quite malty. Lots of caramel on the nose and palate, with some piney and resiny floral hop character in the background. Assertive bitterness as advertised. Not bad, but I expected more from the impressive hop bill. That said, this was much better at room temperature than at fridge temperature. YMMV.

12 oz bottle poured into snifter

A: deep amber body with slight haze. Frothy small bubbled white head.

S: Smells malty with a slight floral, resin bite.

T: Malty beer bready resiny and not very hoppy.

M: Slightly heavy especially for an pale ale.

O: Such an average beer, more of an English style IPA. It has a ton of maltiness and just flecks of Hops. This is is a beer you won't be disappointed you didn't buy.

Pours dark copper, smells heavy of malt and piney, resinous hops. Tastes very similar-dark dank hops with a strong malt presence. This is one of the heavier APAs I have had. Drinks closer to an IPA.
