A: Deep copper bordering on bright red with thick slightly off white head that does dissipate fairly quick but leaves nice lacing behind. Amazingly clear, maybe filtered?
S: This is all citrus out of the gate. Also a touch earthy bordering on piney. Hints of malt too, but it's lovely how the hops are showcased nicely.
T: The second it hit my tongue the hop bitterness started. Wonderful, big, citrus hops! A subtle maltiness is there, and then more hops hang on in the finish. It's as if it coats your tongue with the beautiful hop oils.
M: Mouth feel is nice, moderately carbonated. That's all.
D: This beer goes down WAY too easy if you're the least bit into hoppy beers.

On tap at Studio 35 on 9/22/12
A) Rusty brown color of medium depth. 1/2 inch head thins quickly. Thin layer of retention. Pretty good rings of lace.
S) Tropical citrus hop notes are ripe in the aroma: peach, pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit. Toasty bread with caramel overtones.
T) Gripping pine tar leads off and opens to tropical goodness with juicy flavors similar to the aroma. This is very dry. Unobtrusive malts; lots of toasted bread and hints or caramel (it does seem a tad maltier as it warms).
M) Medium body with moderately high and smooth carbonation. Resinous and prickly.
D) I really like this one. Quite hoppy with enough balance. Underrated.

Oh so close to hitting a home run on this one. Looks great on the pour. Flavor profile is great. Nice rye tones with the hops clearly there. It seems to be lingering a bit more as time goes on, or maybe it's just that the beer is blasting my palate. This is much like Hop Rod Rye, but not quite as big. I like this beer.

This is like a hoppy Red Ale.
Pours out a very nice, deep amber color with a decent amount of fluffy head.
The aroma has a lot of citrus, grapefruit and peach notes from the hops and some bready notes.
The taste is a great balance between citrus and floral hops along with a nice bitterness and a bready, malty quality that finishes nice and dry. Very easy to drink and no alcohol can be detected.
This is great and drinks very much like a hoppy Red Ale or Amber Ale. Very tasty and one of the better beers from The Brew Kettle.
