Live tasting review.

A - Pours a darker golden/orange color with a one inch head and good retention. Also left a fair amount of lacing behind.

S - Smell was AWESOME - gives a strong citrus smell with a profound Hop blast to it. I pick up the grapefruit and orange right away with hints of others I can't describe.

T - Hits you right away with a bitter hop/citrus blast and mellows out shortly after. Very smooth with a subtle aftertaste. Alcohol is very mild to me but noticeable. This is one very good tasting IPA.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation as well.

O - I must say, this was an amazing beer from start to finish. Well put together and balanced. This is now one of my favorite IPA's. And to think, I only picked this up for a trade request and grabbed a single to try for myself.

Aroma: Powdery lemon zest, oranges, and floral hop notes pop out of the glass. Powerful and aggressive American hop aromatics that continue to remind me of candied oranges. Minimal sweet caramel malt aroma blends with the citrusy hop aromatics. Clean fermentation character.

Appearance: Crystal clear amber pour with straw highlights. Low bone white head that retains well.

Flavor: Aggressive leafy and resiny citrus hop punch with notes of lemon, orange, and orange rind. Balance is to the hop bitterness. Finish is bone dry and aftertaste is clean but bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly oily, and medium-high carbonation. No alcohol heat.

Overall impression: West coast, easy drinking, back loaded hop blast IPA. Really good beer that is easy drinking and continues to demonstrate that the Midwest can crank out some good hoppy beers.

Poured into a SA perfect pint. Thanks to bb8189 for including this in your BIF box.

Pours a clear amber with orange hues and a creamy white head that clings to the side of the glass and slowly fades to a thin lacing over the top of the beer. The aroma is a burst of grapefruit, peach, and other tropical fruit with a touch of citrus. The aroma really surprised me and was awesome. The flavors include grapefruit, a toffee malt backing, citrus and pine. Medium body with medium-low carbonation and a dry lingering finish. Overall I knew nothing about this beer and it was an extra, but I really enjoyed it and would definitely seek it out again if I had the chance.

Pours a light orange color with a finger and a half of white head, very clear.

Smell is very citrus and tropical like, orange, grapefruit, pine, pinapple

Taste is bright citrus, lemon and orange, malt take a back seat is a correct slogan for this beer, piney bitterness, light malt comes through towards the end. almost a light spicyness to it in the end. Really tasty stuff!

Medium light feel, with adequate carbonation, finishes a slightly dry

nice stuff, would grab it a lot if it was available to me.

A - Pours a very light orange/amber, very clear and transparent, great 1.5 finger. Bubbly and leaves a lot of good lacing.

S - Wow, this is just a regular IPA? It's got a TON of sweet grapefruit, a bit of pine, a dash of honey, some orange citrus. Fantastic smelling beer. Reminds me of Hopslam, honestly.

T - Superb. It's a wallop of hops, I mean right in your face. The sweetness is still there, but not as prominent as in the nose. The grapefruit comes out right away before fading into a mouthful of bitter, piney hops. A good malt backbone. It's a hop wallop, but balance.

M - Very good. Alcohol stays hidden, the taste is smooth and the bitterness doesn't dry the mouth. The taste that lingers is very pleasant.

Overall - Outstanding. One of the best IPAs out there. I can't believe how well this beer turned out. A pleasure to drink.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass

A - lovely orange color with a finger of white head

S - Huge tropical fruit and citrus. Mango, pineapple, passion fruit, and grapefruit with a hint of resin.

T - More mango, passion fruit, and grapefruit, but the resin is more prevalent. There is also a hint of pine and a bit of sweet malt leading to a nice dry finish.

M - On the lighter side for an IPA (which I like). Good carbonation and nice dry finish.

O - Wow, did this beer surprise me. It is outstanding, and I think it is as good or better than many of the "Top IPAs" such as Two Hearted, Sculpin, Racer 5, 60 Min., etc.

Ohio has some heavy hitters in the world of the IPA: Fat Head's Head Hunter, Columbus' IPA, and The Brew Kettle's White Rajah. Each year when I return for Christmas or summer to visit my family I change my favorite. This past summer the beer that impressed me the most was The Brew Kettle's White Rajah.

Its nose is citrusy, I detect grapefruit. Its malt character helps balance the bittering from the hops, but the finish is extremely dry. White Rajah has a medium body and solid carbonation which help to showcase a perfect amount of hops and sweetness. Speaking of hops it seems like White Rajah has a few hop varieities; it kills it with Citra and Centennial (for sure) and one midwestern variety: Summit (I had to Google this, was not sure at first).

If you live in the area or have access to this beer, then buy it and you will not be disappointed. It is the best suggestion I have come across on BeerAdvocate. Probst!

Drank from a 12 fl. ozs bottle acquired in a trade with mps
Served in a pint glass

The beer poured a crystal clear, medium amber color. Shockingly transparent. The liquid was topped by a creamy, three-finger tall, bone white, sea foam crown. Thick, drippy rings of lacing coated the glass.

The aroma was really interesting. Floral hops dominated. Strong honey-like notes. Hints of lavender were noticeable. Sweet, perfumey and fragrant. Candied citrus peel cames through as the beer warmed. Some apricot notes appeared as well. There was a subtle, biscuity malt presence. Overall, very unique.

Although a bit more straightforward, the flavor profile was also excellent. Quite hoppy. The hops were well matched by a biscuit and caramel malt backbone that privided just enough sweetness. Loads of candied orange peel and juicy tangerine notes. Quite peachy. Mango was also detectible. Grapefruit came through on the back end and carried into the moderately dry and bitter finish. Hints of pine were noticeable as well.

The mouthfeel was medium-full bodied. Creamy, smooth and slick on the palate. The liquid contained a super fine, moderate effervescence. Pillowy soft and near perfect for the style.

White Rajah is an amazingly flavorful yet extraordinarily well balanced double IPA. I really wish that I had easier access to this beer.

Generously received this brew from jampics2 in a recent trade. I must admit that I've never heard of The Brew Kettle but apparently this brew did quite well against some big named IPA's. Drank from my Minneapolis Town Hall Weizen glass.

Appearance- Pours a crystal clear light yellowish with a nice one finger creamy white head. A thin cap and collar is maintained the entire beer along with a bit of random spotty lacing.
Smell- SO fruity and fresh smelling holy hell! Peaches and mango galore with light hints of pineapple and grapefruit. Literally one of the fruitiest smelling brews that I have had the pleasure of sniffing. A light bit of sweetness is noticeable in the background with almost a vanilla thing going on.
Taste- Like the nose it's pretty fruity but not really with the intensity of the nose. It's actually fairly mellow but still really fruity. Hard to explain maybe. Grapefruit and pineapple are the dominant tastes and they are lovely as hell. The beer isn't overly bitter at all as there is an ever-so-slight sweet maltiness hiding behind it all.
Mouthfeel- Nice light carbonation that's soft and tingly with a medium body.
Drinkability- This beer reminds me a lot of Two Hearted and dare I say... tastes even better? It's got a touch more sweetness, especially in the finish but it has that same sort of profile. Either way, great beer that I really enjoyed. Thanks much Bobby!

Amazing find on tap at the swig in perrysburgs.

Pours lovely golden orange color with a creamy white head. Tastes like orange and citrus with a pine malt back. Tates similar to smell with a hint of spice. Very drinkable with a creamy mouthfwel. Could drink this one for a long time. Cannot wait to see this in bottles. One of the best IPAs ever.

Served on tap into a shaker glass at the Brew Kettle

A- Clear golden amber color with one finger head.

S- Very strong grapefruit citrus aroma and tangerine

T- Grapefruit citrus is most prominent, some tangerine flavor, and a very assertive hop finish. Lots of sweet fruit flavor, but very prominent hop bitterness.

M- Very highly carbonated, this beer is dancing on my tongue, so refreshing and clean

O- This is a fantastic beer, great IPA, highly drinkable and flavorful with a nice bite.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottle lists this as 6.8% ABV and 70 IBUs.

A- Pours a slightly hazy golden/orange color with a thick white foam head that leaves good lacing.

S- This nose is exceptional. Tropical hop aromas dominate with ruby red grapefruit and passion fruit being the easiest to pick out. Also a fair amount of pine and some light floral aromas. West coast all the way.

T- Nice bitterness initially that gives way to a very light but very welcome caramel sweetness in the finish. Grapefruit and pine still make up most of the flavor profile with mango, pineapple, passion fruit and a good dose of alcohol throughout. Far from balanced, but the malt backbone is noticeable.

M- Medium bodied with good carbonation. Quite dry and assertive.

O- I have to admit, this one impressed me. I'm a sucker for west coast hop bombs so its truly nice to find something a bit more accessible in my neck of the woods.

Poured from bottle into Duvel Tulip.

Appearance: Looks great on the pour. Golden straw color with retaining 1 finger head that laces its way all through the glass.

Smell: One of the best smelling IPAs I have ever encountered. Incredibly aromatic tropical fruit. Pineapple, nectarine, grapefruit, lemon zest. Some malt in there too, but this is dominated by the citrus.

Taste: An Ohio made West Coast IPA. Citrus hops like crazy, citrus dominates the palate throughout. Some malt settles in on the back end but doesn't do much to distract from the hop bite. Great for those seeking a hop dominated single IPA.

Mouthfeel: Appropriate for the style. Medium bodied, well carbonated, and smooth going down.

Overall: Fantastic IPA. This and Columbus are easily the two best IPAs produced in Ohio that I have had (I've not yet enjoyed Head Hunter). Fantastic beer and one that will likely become my new fridge staple.

Do you like hops?? you better if you wrestle with this one.

This brew made my night. The citrus notes are incredible with grapefruit leading the pack. Let it warm up a touch and you'll get hints of cat piss. Perhaps that's not pleasing to some but those grassy notes get me everytime.

If your a hop head this is a must try but good luck cause it aint on many shelves. Luckly I live minutes from what has to be one of the best craft beer stores in the state of Ohio which is where this one comes from.

12 oz bottle, 6.8% abv. Crystal clear deep gold color. Great white head, excellent retention and lace. Great looker.

Great hop combination in the nose. Piney and citrusy nose, a bit catty as well. Great juicy aroma. A bit of malt backbone in the nose, but this is all hops.

Lighter caramel malt feel. Great juicy hop flavor. Again, pine and big citrus notes. Not overly bitter.

Medium body, softer carbonation. This is one fantastic ipa here. Great juicy flavors.

12 oz bottle, thanks to Dan for sharing this.

Clear, dark copper with a light stream of carbonation supporting a persistent creamy, off white head. Clumps of sticky lacing. Resiny, bready aroma. Strong citrus undertones and mild floral bitterness. Medium thick, creamy body with light carbonation and a smooth, balanced bitter finish. Strong caramel and biscuit malt body with a potent Citra hop finish, resiny and pulpy, but not overly bitter. Very impressive

Poured from a bottle into my bells tulip glass.

A- Cleveland browns orange with a remarkable white head that gracefully glides away to a substantial skim of white froth. Sheets of lace grope the glass. What a beer.

S- tropical fruits explode once you pop the Cap on this beer. I could literally pick out sweet mangos and tart grapefruit just from pouring this beer into a glass. Further inspection reveals a sweet honey quality and a litlle bit of toast. Very pungent

T- oranges and cantelope smack you with a bitter fruit blast on the initial taste, followed nicely in the mid palate by sharp grapefruit and piney hops. The finish is a nice combo of the honey and toast from the nose mixed with a mixture of fruity piney hops. Just crazy good. Each sip reaffirms that this beer is indeed great

M- crisp and heavy usually don't go together but in this case it works great. The tingly sensation from a bitter brew us there and is countered nicely with a creamy heavy coating effect. Slightly slick on the back end but that just makes me want to drink more of this delicious beer.

Overall I am stunned. Who knew that a relatively unknown brewery from northern Ohio could create an ipa that rivals the best the west coast has to offer, I'm looking at you Pliny and just outstanding. So impressed by the flavors and the overall package that I'm just in shock. I've been trading for highly sought after ipas for a long time and all I had to do was look in my own backyard. Doink!!!

HUGE thanks to brew33 for this glorious extra!

Beautiful honey gold body stuffed with small gauge beads, topped with a finger of paper white, classic west coast style IPA head.

Juicy tropical fruit presence, subtle pine qualities, just insanely dense hops... swimming in hops... smells like Jesus.

Mmmm... great citrus with caramel apple and pineapple, reminds me of Columbus IPA in how it delivers a tremendous hop profile without burning the palate, which makes for an exceedingly drinkable beer.

Terrific.

Taste: Citrus flavors dominate, especially the grapefruit flavor. The taste is slightly sweet with only a slightly bitter finish. The hoppy taste is smooth and are not overpowering.

Presentation: 12 oz. bottle into a nonic.
*Bottle lists ABV @ 6.8% (currently listed @ 7% here)

A- Light amber/golden and clear. ~2 fingers of white head, which fades slowly to a thin cap. Nice lacing.

S- Juicy mango/citrus/pineapple/pine hops...tropical fruit sweetness....

T- Mango/pineapple sweetness along with resinous piny bitterness. Delicious.

M- Moderate to slightly high carbonation with a medium feel.

O- Outstanding. What's not to like? I wanna' give out all 5's, but I'm being absurdly optimistic (i.e.- obscenely greedy) and holding out hope there's actually a better IPA out there somewhere....

Future outlook: This is one of (the?) best "single" IPA's I've ever had. Bravo. And as a bonus, a "local" brew....very glad to have grabbed a few sixers of this and not just a single...I see many more of these in my future.

A - Nice light orange color. Relatively clear. Quarter finger of head with a conservative pour.

S - Some citrus, but a great amount of hops. Some pine in there. Really pleasant!

T - This is awesome. What a great IPA... not too sweet but plenty of nectarine, grapefruit, some lemon zest. Holy hell, I'm happy drinking this one. There is maybe a touch of bitterness right at the end, but not off-putting.

M - Nearing on perfect for me. Medium-light body with a great amount of tiny-bubbled carbonation.

O - I think this is my second favorite IPA of all time... it might beat out my favorite (zombie dust) if I was in the right mood. Regardless, it is awesome.

A crisp light golden color with a half thumbs width cream colored head. An awesome sweet tropical fruit component from the hops and a nice malt underbelly give this a fantastic aroma. Flavor is really nice with the pleasantly sweet tropical fruits showing themselves with some orange on top the malt underbelly along some grassiness. Moderate to medium bitterness to this. A creamy, crisp mouthfeel. Overall, everything I want in an IPA this one offers. Definitely one of the best IPA's I have tried, wish this could make it out to Colorado.

received a bottle in a trade- Thanks pschnei3!

poured a slightly hazy goldenrod in my CCB snifter. egg-shell head with good retention and moderate lacing.
Aroma is extremely enticing- lots of pine and citrus with undertones of honey and malt.
Flavor has a lot of "pop", very hop forward, but a smooth balanced finish. good bitterness up front, and a bit of honey underneath. lasting pleasant hop finish.
medium weight on the palate, not overbearing, decent carbonation.
Overall, i was pleasantly surprised with this beer. It's not quite at the level of elite IPAs (Heady, Sculpin, etc..) in my opinion, but is at the top of the new tier (jai alai, hop stoopid, etc...)
I would certainly recommend this beer.

I don't normally choose beers that are this hoppy and bitter, but this beer is what IPAs are about, and more. The beer pours a medium head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. This is probably the best smelling IPA I've had, as the tropical/citrus aromas are spectacular and huge. The taste does not quite live up to the smell, but the citrus and pine flavors continue to be great, and this beer has pretty much no malt presence at all and finishes quite bitter, but that's to be expected. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, but the beer finishes clean and bitter. Overall, this is an incredibly drinkable IPA for a beer with such dominant flavors. This would make for a great session ale given the thinner body. One of these is just not enough.
