Thanks to fiver29 for this extra, a 22 oz. bottle from The Brew Kettle taproom. Always enjoyed their beers over the years. Split with my wife.

Nice minimalist label that says "STOUT" with a Commodore 64 style outline. Pour is dingy black. Nose is a blast of hot roast mixed in with a shot of espresso & milk. Smells like something my wife would like to drink.

The Brew Kettle Stout pioneers a new category: the Roast Stout. Roast scalds the palate & titles right over into coffee territory. Mild lactose & malts sweetness are cowed into near-invisibility in the mid-palate. Bitter roast laced with a sharp hop bite round this out & give it a little character. A touch thin for me, which really completes the notion that it's a coffee in beer's clothing.

This beer needs some diversity training, a straightforward stout plus roast. If the name fits...pretty good beer. (878 characters)
