From the website: The rustic taste of this exceptional beer is due to both barley and wheat malt and the use of original emmer and spelt. A fantastic earthy taste! Of very high quality!

Rich malty aroma has hints of dough, caramel, and other sweets. Creamy off-white head slowly fades to a thin film. Hazy chestnut colored beer with a golden hue. The flavor is subdued. Lightly roasted malt flavors are accented by hints of nuts, cocoa, and apricots. The mouthfeel is moderately full with light carbonation and a hint of lactic twang. It doesn't fit neatly into any style so I put it in the same category as Pyraser's 6-Korn Bier. In the end it's an ok beer, but not something I would choose.

Very nice beer that fits right to the style. The five grains (Emmer, wheat, barley, spelt, einkorn) give it a complex aroma.
Very nice caramelt and malt notes are presented to the palate. There is not a lot of smell, but the beer features a clear brownish color.

The Riedenberg brewery is very much alive (as of February 2011) and putting a focus on organic beers as well as special grains like spelt.

Surprising beer, I didn't expect it to be that good. Hazy orange amber colour, a good beige head. Aroma of orange peels, with some cocoa and honey, with some earthy notes. Light body and mostly sweet and creamy flavor. Taste of caramel, citrus tones, fruits and bread and the earthy notes. I can't find the rustic taste they advertise, besides the earthy thing, but I'm more than impressed by this beer, maybe it was unexpected?

Nose: The nose is saccharine, almost candy sugar like. Malty, bready accompanied by notes of licorice, anise and pastry.

Mouth: The mouth is, to be honest, tenuous. Flabby as it lacks both structure and strong discernable notes. Still, some caramelly, toffeeish and nutty notes are detectable.

Palate: Low carbonation. Low bitterness. Barely any acidity. Dry-ish with a sweet twang. The finish is short as if one was sipping on overly diluted coffee.
