A: Very hazy, rich peachy orange, seafoam head and little visible rising carbonation
S: German hops crossed with an IPA, but leaning on a belgian tripel.
T: Quite decent. Honey, pinefruitiness, initially bitter, but doesn't have a deep bitterness.
M: light and smooth
O: A very easy IPA, and very welcome to Germany. I think I bought this at the Biocompany, which is fantastic if it's that easily available.

Bottle from from the fatherland. Pale hazy with ring and island. Weird minty floral grassy sweet aroma. Malty grainy sweet slightly cardboardy with minty pine bitterness with long papery minty finish. Medium body lively and soft. Weird and unpleasant.

Pours a cloudy, light golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit, orange rind and lime peel, Taste is a great balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and fruity, bitter and slightly herbal and resinous hops, with citrus and lighter tropical notes of grapefruit, orange and lime peel, as well as just a hint of pineapple and pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some citrus hops and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This makes for a really solid "supermarket IPA", even being one if the cheaper ones, with a certain West Coast feel to it. The quite zesty citrus notes are most prominent here, with hints of tropical accents and resinous pine also coming through, while finishing with a good bitterness. There's a really nice mouthfeel to this as well, with a good level of carbonation. I really think this makes for one of the best IPAs widely available from supermarkets, you will be able to find this at any "Bio" (organic) supermarket in Germany. EDIT: When fresh, at least, just had a bottle that was pretty disappointing.

Nice flowery and fruity smell.
The taste is mainly citrusy, with some strong hops character. The aftertaste becomes very bitter; the bitterness erases completely the fruity notes, thus degrading the overall feel.

From the bottle, it pours a lightly hazy amber with a modest head that lasts a bit. The scent is of citrus and bread. The taste is a bit bitter (akin to a West Coast IPA) with a solid malt base. Drinkable!

Pours a hazed amber color with a beautiful, huge head.

The entire room smells of herb infused lemon peel, white bread dough and ripe oranges. Has a juicy blueberry aroma, coming along with a note of caramel and pineapple.

Has a wonderful smooth, fuller mouthfeel with a soft, fitting carbonation, together with a playfully balanced body.

Tastes of dried leafes, caramel and candied oranges, calmed by an aqeous softness and a note of white bread dough. Has more malts during midpalate, balanced by lime zest and a light effervescence. Finishes with a fruity dry bitterness and a smoothness, which leaves a spot on the palate for sweet caramel to cut through.

Very impressive IPA for being available at your local bio market, this is way better than your average hop defined ale. Its very well nuanced and got a world class mouthfeel to it making this very easy to drink if it wasn't for the bitter, lingering finish.

Bought this without any expectations - must admit that I am a die-hard fan of West Coast IPAs and of American IPAs in general and I prefer the ones made in the USA from Made in USA ingredients.
However sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. Regardless of nationality, sometimes foreign makers can also produce an extremely good American IPA as well! This time the German Riedenberger brewery did the job with Dolden Sud IPA.
Although its label and the story on the back reminds me of the original English IPAs, it clearly follows the tradition and trademark of the American ones: an in-your-face amazing dry hopped smell, for sure thanks to the great amount of Citra used for this beer. I believe a Pale Ale malt must have been used that gives the beer a lighter body with a quite dry but bitter aftertaste. Overall, this beer resembles me of an East Coast IPA, more exactly of the legendary Evil Twin's outstanding Falco - it is almost as if this beer has been a carbon copy of it.
In the end, to me today it matters not how original this beer tastes like - what matters to me more is that this IPA is made very well and with a taste that I like very much. Would gladly drink it again!

It's like an American IPA yet the mouthfeel and look of the beer is like a German Weissbier (Hefeweizen). No the aroma I got pine. The taste was well balanced, a little hoppy and surprisingly full bodied mouthfeel. I recommend it yet it is quite far away from an IPA.
