Enjoyed on-tap @ Urban Chestnut Brewing Company in St. Louis, MO for $5. Tapped from the Orange/Blue Tap Handle w/ Urban Blacktop down the middle into a Stemmed Pilsner Glass.
Aroma- Has a very nice malt presence and a light burnt aroma. Not much roastiness but has good Munich malts and yeasty finish on the nose.
Appearance- Received with almost no head at all. Has the darkest amber colored body that is almost brown looking until put up to a light. Leaves good lacing behind.
Flavor- A very clean and bitter sweet taste from the beginning! Also very sweet and has the good malts that are discovered in the aroma. Has a light bitterness on the finish.
Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Sweet, Smooth, and then leaves caramel at the finish!?!? This wasn't in the taste before! Cool!
Overall Impression- One of my favorites now from UCBC! It has such a great mixture of ingredient, but at the same time, smooth and very enjoyable. With a ton of their beers, I like how easy drinking they are but still have good attributes and qualities you don't find in other brewer's beers. Keep it up Florian! This one rocked.

A - An opaque, black brew with a small, tan head of foam. Good lacing
S - It smelled of roasted malt, dark chocolate and pine.
T - Piney hop bitterness with roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors. Just a hint of sweetness, too.
M - It was crisp and sharp. A medium bodied ale.
O - This is a very good UCBC brew

BA lists this beer as retired but I'm guessing this is the same beer... though now it clocks in at 7.8% it still has the same name and is classifed by UC as a black ale. I'm guessing it's the same beer with some tweaks.
It's pitch black with a starkly contrasting almost white head. The head was huge and had great retention.
Smelled of lightly roasted malt, cola, black licorice, and pine.
The taste fall of a little, letting a sweet cola take over when I was hoping for more of the pine and light roast.
Mouthfeel was surprisingly thin and overly carbonated compared to what I was expecting after the pour. Visually it looks like it's smooth and creamy but it's quite the opposite.
A decent black ale that showed potential. There was a lot I liked about it and with some more tweaking can be really solid.
