The Bohemia line is made by AmBev, which is the largest brewer in Brazil, which in turn is owned by AB-InBev, the world´s largest brewer. And they have the nerve to brew an oak-aged beer? Is this legitimate, or a victim of marketing? Hard to categorize on the site, but because it uses english malts and hops, plus a moderately-high ABV advertising wood chips, I´m calling this an English Strong Ale. On to the beer:

The first impression sure is good. The orange/wood polish color is clean in the body, and it leaves some good lacing to the glass. To my surprise, the aroma was empty. There are some very very light notes of oak, and nothing else.

Sadly, this does not taste like it was aged in oak. It´s a sweet tasting beer overall. Apples come to mind, and some other kinds of cheap sweet extracts. Maybe there is oak to taste after all, but it is very light on the paalte. The high carbonation with the cheap, bubbly feeling doesn´t help matters either.

Despite the name, Bohemia Oaken does not bring to mind oak at first or second guess. It tastes like they were aiming for something else but failed. Fortunately, it´s not terribly offenisive, and it did wash down my dinner fine.
