Kovac passed down his family’s beer making tradition by working tirelessly with his son to craft the first version of “Not Your Father’s Root Beer.” At 10.7% ABV, the silky, smooth and satisfying finish is unmatched in flavor. It appeals to craft beer aficionados as well as those who don’t typically drink beer but crave something unique.

This, or at least the ones I have in my cellar that were from the original brewery, is flat out root beer with a kick, so good with some French Vanilla ice cream as a float or just as is.
Drinks like a soda too, and not no diet soda.
Sorry, I’ve never tried the version that was after the original.

Bomber from WinCo. Dark brown with thick creamy head. Aroma is root beer, some sassafras, some vanilla. Taste takes a downturn. Alcohol burn up front. Licorice obscures the root beer aroma. Sweet, medicinal, earthy. Finishes the same. Started out nice and went downhill from there.

I love it!!Sad you can’t get the real stuff any more, the Pabst one can’t compare to it.

Definitely one of the best options available for those who love soda and want an alcoholic drink other than Jack and Coke. I've rated this one unobjectively as an overall product to the target demographic.

Mahogany brown in color with an fingernail of brown around the rim and covering half of the top. The aroma is flat root beer with a slightly sweet, boozy edge. The taste is smoky root beer and black licorice. There's plenty of booze and it isn't well hidden. There's a bit of dry stickiness and there's definitely a boozy burn on the way down. Not sure what I was expecting, but not sure what some of the others see in this. My opinion of this beer increased greatly as it warmed.
