Poured from a bottle dated 1/15/15, into a modified tulip glass.
A - Pecan colored pour, with gentle carbonation. With some work, a thin cream colored cap can be had, dissipation is quick, no lacing during the experience.
S - Sweet brown sugar, toffee, vanilla. There is a clear Belgian yeast component, bringing forward fruity esters, raisin, young fig, blonde cured tobacco, as the beers moves toward room temperature those fruits dominate.
T - Light roasted malt starts things off, brown sugars, earl grey tea follow. Very mild in all aspects, which keeps this quite pleasant. With some time a little Trappist yeast signature sneaks in for a visit.
M - Thin in body, the palate is sweetly coated with a long winding exit. Leaves a cool almost refreshing feel, finely carbonated, far from effervescent. The flavors and body compliment each other well. With no real calling card or linger the urge is to sip some more.
O - This is a bit of a confounding offering, a nod to brown ales, a thin bodied beer that with some heft could be a wonderful Abbey ale. Hints of Trappist sweetness and yet refreshingly clean across the palate. A fine offering from Idle Hands.

Serving: From the growler
Served: 25 Feb 2015

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with the subtlest red undertones. Minimal off-white head that leaves a touch of lacing. Pours with a two finger head that diminishes to a sheen of bubbles.

Smell: Fruity smells from the yeast on top of a sweet malt base.

Taste: Very drinkable, with enough flavor to keep things moving but not enough to get bogged down. Nice herbal hop notes on top of a sweet malt base with a heavy helping of fruity Belgian yeasts. Balanced, low alcohol, and extremely sessionable.

Mouthfeel: Soft on the tongue with medium carbonation.

Overall: A very good session beer from Idle Hands, but by no means their strongest offering. I would get this again for sure. Definitely a great beer to introduce newcomers to craft.

Good starting head but it leaves no lace. Muddy, dark amber color.

Darker "toasty" malt aroma with a touch of alcohol warmth.

Thin bodied and highly carbonated. There's a definitive Belgian yeast flavor. Relatively dry with a light hop bitterness kicking in with he swallow. Short aftertaste but it's a good blend of all of the elements.

Had the opportunity to have this beer at Atwoods Tavern in Cambridge, MA.

A- Brown, slightly hazy, light head and carbonation.

S- Light nose but hints of Belgian notes

T- Malty and sweet like a UK session, but supported by the Belgian yeast flavors.

M- moderate body, but not extremely heavy or chewy, lighter carbonation.

Overall- it was a tasty beer. Great to have on a night I when I wanted to drink casually with friends without having to deal with a high ABV. It has all the characteristics of a malty British session ale, but with a Belgian yeast.
