750ml bottle poured into HF tulip (only glass unpacked).

A- Pours a hazy slightly golden caramel brown with about a finger and half of white foamy head with great retention. Lots of small carbonation bubbles rising along the side of the glass. Definitely above average carbonation. Leaves thick layered lacing.

S- Very floral smell. Aromas of hops, flowers, some vanilla, caramel malts, a little bit above average aroma strength.

T- Floral hops with some light citrus mixed with vanilla and caramel malts, finishes with a floral malty flavor that doesn't really balance the sweetness and maltiness the best. Tastes definitely start to smooth out a little bit after it warms up.

M- Medium bodied, smooth, abv well hidden especially at 9% abv, definitely drinkable.

O- I wasn't a huge fan of this triple, but it was definitely a good attempt for a brewery that I think is slowly putting together great beer and will have success in the near future. To me the floral hops and caramel malts just didn't really balance the best. Overall the beer was enjoyable and easy to drink. It just wasn't my favorite triple in the world, which for a brewery only a year old isn't too surprising. I would definitely drink this over a lot of triples out there though. This isn't Idle Hands' best beer that I've tried (I still have to give that to Patriarch), but it is a solid staple in their lineup that I wouldn't mind having again.

750 mL bottle, bottled on 5/17/12. Thanks to jaasen64 for the hookup, this was allowed to warm a little bit before being poured into my Brooklyn Brewery tulip.

Triplication pours a semi-clear orange, with some tangerine highlights. The frothy white head is massive, surging to four fingers in height and threatening to spill out the side of the glass. The nose has plenty of clove led phenols, with a bit of pepper present there as well. Peach and mango fruitiness is also present, but a bit buried. The balance was a little bit more even when the beer was colder. The flavor profile flashes a little bit more fruitiness. Banana and apricot join peach to form a nice open for the beer. The back end phenolics are almost straight clove, with barely any pepper shining through. Mouthfeel-wise the carbonation is plenty lively, but the body is just too full as the beer finishes a little bit sweet for the style. Triplication's not perfect, but it's a very good tripel from a new American brewer who I'll definitely keep an eye out for in the future.

A - Looks very good, light gold with a solid finger of white head. Head is comprised of very small bubbles.

S - Nice Belgian yeast scents. There is a hint of booze in the nose that isn't entirely appealing. Overall a good smell, though.

T - The taste starts out good -- nice full flavor up front. However, by the finish it gets a little watery. Just missing a final push that would make the flavor great.

M - The carbonation -- which is one of the most important parts of a tripel in my opinion -- is spot on. Great mouthfeel.

Overall, this is a good beer with a couple things lacking from it. Other than in the smell, the 9% ABV is hidden quite well, but this beer is lacking a bit to make it a great beer.
