Bottle was 15 months old. Barrel 2.

Poured into a tulip.

Ruby red/amber in appearance with a little fizzy head that faded quickly.

Aroma gave off a little tartness, touch of vinegar and cherry.

The flavor starts off fine with a little cranberry-like tartness up front. But that quickly fades to almost nothing. There's a lack of complexity and malt behind the initial tartness that makes the beer taste boring and lackluster.

Mouthfeel has below average carbonation that's just too minimal, even for a flanders red - a style that I normally accept lower carbonation as fine.

I drain-poured this. There's nothing specifically bad or off-putting about it. It's just so bland and boring that I don't want to waste my time or caloric intake with it...especially when I have plenty of better beers in the cellar and fridge. Idle Hands is 0 for 2 with me. I may just have to nix them from my purchase considerations...a shame because I like supporting local beers that are worth the money.

A-Pours dark reddish brown. Thin tan head.

S-The aroma is rather soft. There is a light tartness. Slight wooden notes. Sour cherries. Caramel too.

T-Lactic sourness, cherries and caramel maltiness. Oak comes through a bit.

M-Smooth feel. Medium to light body. Moderate carbonation.

O/D-A decent Flanders. Has some cool stuff going on but it leaves more to be desired.

Barrel 1, 30APR13

Pours a murky brown with a sheet of light tan foam. Smells of wood, cherries, lactic acidity, a little hint of grain and some balsamic. Flavor is tame: grain, sweet malts, light tartness, some cherries, a bit of grain and oak. Medium bodied with hi carb and a wet finish. I think the nose is nice, but the rest leaves a bit to be desired.
