750ml bottle.

Pours dark amber with a chestnut hue and a two inch head of beige. A solid skim coat for the duration with clingy lacing.

Burnt sugar, cloves, apples, caramel, and a hint of bubblegum starts the nose. Some faint horse notes follow through.

Medium bodied with a crisp yet creamy mouthfeel.

Brown sugar, candied apples, and sweet malt start the palate. Raisins, dark rum, and spicy phenols follow through.

Finishes sweetish and malty with spicy raisins.

This beer tastes like a spicy dubble with a hint of funk. A bit too sweet for my tastes and not dry enough for a saison.

Serving: On tap into snifter
Served: 6 May 2015

Appearance: Pours a deep brown color with pink gold tints around the edges. Not much of a head on this one, but what was there was tannish and foamy. Not as deep as a stout, which is nice.

Smell: Overripe banana with a pinch of espresso and dark chocolate.

Taste: Nice notes from the yeast keep this one squarely within the 'saison' camp- nice bright, overripe banana notes, a pinch of spice, and a touch of nutmeg. Dark malts add complex notes of French roast coffee and baker's cocoa, though rather subdued. Tastes kind of like banana bread, but a pinch roastier.

Mouthfeel: Soft on the tongue, but I couldn't help but feel like it was just a pinch thin.

Overall: Another great brew from Idle Hands. Recommended.
