Appearance: minimal head, moderate-high carbonation, red-brown in color, hazy

Smell: dark fruit, cherry, raisin, rum barrel

Taste: dark fruit, cherry, raisin, big oak on the finish

Mouthfeel: sweet and sour, light in body, prickly medium-high carbonation

Overall: I enjoyed the base beer, and adding the oak aging to this enhances the flavor greatly. The fruit shines and the oak complements it nicely. Not my favorite from this outstanding brewery, but I would get this again.

Appearance - Pours 3 fingers of a light tan foamy soapy head, body is a beautiful opaque rich dark brown, really nice lacing and retention for the session.

Smell - Ripe dark fruits of plums and cherries, warm dates & Molassa, freshly baked yeasty wheat bread all with undertones from the barrel

Taste - I thought the flavor was BIG, but it was not overwhelming or muddled. Heavy on the date/fig flavors and the earthiness & oakiness in the smell delivers in the taste. Almost barley wine-like character. The malt just peeks through - enough to support and balance out the stronger flavors going on. It is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so thanks to the oak that mellows out any sharpness . The alcohol is certainly present!!!

Mouthfeel - The mouthfeel is heavy - no doubt. It's thick and lingers on the tongue, but isn't "cloying". The alcohol provides a nice tingle and offsets the heavy feel somewhat, but there's no mistake that this is a heavy brew.

Overall - Really a delicious quad, and a nice representative of the style. Give this one a try.

No bottle date, just a 2014 batch stamp. Only released a few weeks ago.

A: Pours an extremely dark red/brown. Small, fizzy light brown head that dissipates almost immediately. No lacing, minimal head retention.

S: Nice toffee, caramel and oak from the bourbon barrels. Not overly overpowering. Nice sweet dark fruits, grapes and raisins primarily. Maybe a touch of berry. Spicy, earthy quality from the belgian yeast or perhaps the barrels (or both?)

T: This is one fruity quad. Interesting caramel flavor up front mixing with the fruits leads to a caramel-covered fruit flavor. I can practically taste the caramel drizzle. Really nice. Get some spices and a little dark bread (like rye bread?). Earthy and oaky in the finish, ending up with a dry, wooden aftertaste. Lots of oak lingering between sips.

M: Heavy body, low carbonation but not too sticky or cloying. Super smooth and drinkable.

O: Nice quad. Not as nice as the Masterson's version but still nice. The caramel and fruit flavor up front is stellar. It would be an extremely amazing beer if not for the overly oaky aftertaste that is a slight detraction. Overall an impressive beer. Smooth and drinkable, complex and tasty. Very nice.

A-Pours a dark, yet clear crimson/brown. Head is almost nonexistent. No head=no lace and I could care less. How does it smell?

S-Dark fruits and clear barrel character. Molasses and cola. Almost smells like brandy. I'm not sure what type of barrel they let Day of Doom sit in but the base beer really soaked in aspects of its captor. I love how the yeast character isn't overwhelming.

T-Blissful and rich. The sweetness is multifaceted but it's all blended into one shifting force of taste. The barrel character (whiskey, right?) is even better here. Figs, raisins, cola, booze infused fruitcake. The barrel is great.

M-Rich, sweet, purposefully boozy. Sip,by sip, I work my way thought the 750ml. I find it interesting how I had Day Of Doom in a tiny 375ish ml bottle and now I am treating myself to the full dose of 750ml The Last And Final Judgment.

O-I remember my experience with this beer's base: Day Of Doom. There was something off about it; who knows what it was. I was hesitant to go back and try this one and I am happy I did. I think Mystic drilled this one. I recently had Stickee Monkee from Firestone Walker (also a barrel aged Quad) recently and I think this beer way clearly better. It's not my favorite style but I had no trouble appreciating it. Maybe my favorite Quad.
