Pours a rich, dark caramel color, and has caramel flavors. I was expecting a Belgian-style quad, but to me, this tastes more like a Thomas Hardy Old Ale. More carbonated than TH Ale, but the head subsides quickly, as noted by another reviewer. Strong, warm alcohol feel after the sip. I don't think TH Ale is available in the US anymore, but if you live nearby, this is the next best thing.

12.68oz. bottle - 2017

Pours mahogany amber dark red with a dense creamy light khaki colored foam head. Smells like apples, cinnamon, raisin, stewed dried fruit, sweet plums, red grape, dark cherry, pear, apricot, rich dark toasted bready roasty caramel malts, molasses, dark fruit, sweet spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Taste follows with baked apples, cinnamon, raisin, stewed dried fruit, sweet plums, prunes, dark grapes, cherry, pear, apricot, rich dark toasted bready roasty caramel malts, molasses, dark fruit, sweet spice, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a really nice quadrupel.

375ml brown corked and caged bottle, sample purchased at the brewery.

Expressive carbonation leads to a big foamy head, that eventually subsides to a dense layer of lacing and leaves a bit on the glass. Smells of prunes, toast, fig sugar, & a mildly gummy phenol. A massive brew, big carbonation, very warming, lots of malt flavor thrown at the palate. Sweet but the alcohol, phenols, and extra toasted malt character keep it in balance for the style. A clear sipper, enjoyable for sure.

The appearance has a dark brown close to black colored body with a slim half fingered white foamy head that dies within about a minute and leaves some nice clingy foamy lacing sticking nicely to the glass The smell has a deep dark sweet aromatic syrupy malts with elements of cherries, plums, apples, brown sugar, maple syrup and I think I get some light molasses in there at the end, however, I have to admit there’s a nice element of spice (coriander perhaps but its not as detectable as I had hoped as to what spice). The taste has a sticky malty sweetness coating my mouth and tongue prominently with a super sticky plum/cherry-like aftertaste and finish. On the palate, it sits about a medium to heavy on the body and is sessionable - not really more of a sipper. Carbonation is pretty smooth and runs across my mouth and tongue very well - very smooth that wants to lead to a decent creaminess. Overall, this is an exceptionally well done Quad to me as I know I would have this again.

Poured from a corked bottle to Night Shift 2016 Barrel Society goblet

L - Dark brown, looks syrupy and thick. A bit of floaties piled fall to the bottom that can be seen in the light, in normal lighting is pretty opaque.

S - Dark fruit, plum and fig w an alcoholic smell. Smells identical to a port to me.

T - it's hot (ok its warm) sticky sweet! but seriously these are the main traits. this is a sweet quad, grape, plum, raisin and cherry blended by sweet molasses and maple syrup. you can really taste the syrup on the back end, though it masks any alcohol that a 12% offering may present.

MF - as syrupy as it appears and w the molasses and maple syrup present it's not as thick as you'd think, it's about spot on.

O - very very good.

My very first quad. Dark, deep unfiltered amber in color. Little head and very little carbonation. A boozy brown sugar, banana and raisin in smell. Subtle hints of hops with a slight sour taste. On the thin syrup side but a nice warm sweet taste. A nice heavy ale that reminds me of a rum raisin cake. The bottle I picked up says that it is 11% ABV.
