Poured from a 750 ml cage and cork bottle, purchased at the brewery. 2018 release
A - Strawberry milkshake in color and cloudiness, 1" whipped cream on top. Froth last throughout the experience
S - Yeasty, hints of cranberry, white pepper, rising sourdough, sweet fresh puree of peach.
T - This stays in a narrow lane, yeast driven, soft fruit flesh, hint of malt base, tinge funky.
M - Creamsicle, in texture, I am a bit turned off by it, flabby, sweet start and finish, which is surprising , the very end a hint cranberry tartness.
O - Interesting offering, One I will try another year

Look: Transparent orange with a thick white head. Moderate activity.
Nose: Fruity yeast with hints of pepper, hay, Belgian sugar, honey, green bananas, and farmhouse funk.

Taste: A wash of green bananas, pepper, and lemon rind cover the palate. Then come a tart cranberry note with no sweetness. A malt slowly arrives with just a hint of Belgian sugar which gives way to a farmhouse funk that is lightly tart and floral.

Feel: Clean and easy drinking. Light-Medium body. No booze. Only lasting effect is a light tart on the tongue.

Overall: A funky saison with just a hint of cranberry. It seems the yeast did all the heavy lifting here with tons of Belgian saison complexity

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in Fall 2014. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lightly tart cranberry, lemon, orange zest, pear, apricot, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, bread dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, cranberries, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart cranberry, lemon, orange zest, pear, apricot, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, bread dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate earthy yeast spiciness and light fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of cranberry, lemon, orange zest, pear, apricot, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, bread dough, hay, straw, herbal, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cranberries, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast spiciness/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and yeast spiciness as well. High carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent fruited saison! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cranberries, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

mystic is fast becoming one of my favorite operations in the country. every single time a have a beer from them, its flawlessly made, unique, and leaves me wanting more. this is one of the more interesting ones i have had from them, a cranberry saison with wild yeast. the cranberry is really forward in this, piquant and tangy, with the funk from the yeast pairing well with it. just pink in hue, quite light looking, and clear until the last quarter of the bottle gets poured. lively off white head too, a few flecks of yeast floating around, but a clean appearance for a wild beer. the aroma of tart cranberry and funky brett based yeast is cool, and i cant think of anything like it. its not sour, at least not from a bacterial fermentation, but the fruit has plenty of acidity so it almost seems that way. probably the most genuine true to real fruit cranberry i have had in a beer, its spot on. almost sharp for a second before the fluffy wheaty base comes in and cuts it off. dry in the finish but still lathery in feel, highly carbonated, and refreshing. i could see this being awesome around a holiday table, but it needs no such occasion to stand out as one of my favorite beers i have had this summer. the mix of yeast and the overall balance of this is stunning. wish i could have visited mystic when i was back east earlier this summer... next time for sure!

Cork flew off aggressively on this one as soon as the cage was loosened, beware. Pale Amber body with a slight pinkish hue. Huge, foamy pale pink head. Aroma is primarily bready malts with a dash of white peppercorns. The cranberry is noticeable in the flavor and plays nicely with the bready malts and peppery yeast. The feel is medium bodied, medium carbonation and very drinkable. A really nice saison altogether, very nice cranberry flavor.
