a really light and slightly sweet red ale, this seems to be a common style among the craft brewers of costa rica, but in the end a lot of them are samey, and this is far from the best of the beers we had from these guys. pale and clear from the tap, light looking, barely even amber in color, more of a washed out copper but the head is there. a sleepy sweet and toasted sort of malt base, really simple and one dimensional, but easy drinking can be the key sometimes down here, and i like its minimalist nature in the end. slight caramel and nuts, golden raisin, generic ale yeast, mineral heavy but watery body, pretty decent carbonation, easy down but boring after half a glass. i look for a lot more in a craft beer, but given the context and the apparent popularity of the style, i can tolerate this. i wish the drafts were cheaper, they sure taste cheaper, but another brewery and another brew is always exciting, especially when travelling, and i have to give this at least a little love for being an equally crushable alternative to imperial lager where you can find it. forgettable but not bad.

Was welcomed at the airport with this brew. Can you drink in the car? Sure. Nice to be somewhere with reason. Taste is nice and strong ale-like, great body, nice balance. Good to know you can get craft beer in CR. Will drink this over my preferred Bavaria Megra when they have it.
