Pours into a becker a clear rich copper/bronze with a fluffy full one finger white head atop that leaves two broken rings of lace as it settles.Wow great fresh hops aromas that really hit ya,grassy and herbal with some pineapple also being detected, just big and fresh, some sweet dough and booze is there as well. The hops hit up front on the palate with some grass and citrusy notes, the malt base is bigger in the flavors than aromas with some caramel and sweet dough being rather large, some more sweetness comes from sugary alcohol as well.Really liked this beer, just a great hop profile in the nose.

Took home a sixer of this after visiting Wolverine State's brewery in Ann Arbor. It pours out a light-ish iteration of copper with really good clarity; essentially no haze at all, it appears the lagering has clear the beer up quite nicely. The soapy, eggshell colored head fades quickly, but has the ability to grow to gigantic proportions by swirling the glass... give it a try!
Earthy, deep-rooted and grassy hops line the aroma; there's a light pungency that comes with the hops, too, as they push the profile towards "piney" but don't quite enter that territory all the way. Biscuity malts are pretty heavy, but not as heavy as the sweet caramel malts that get stronger with each degree of warmth the beer receives. The hefty malt bill backs the hops up quite nicely, though the hops definitely "win out" and dominate in the end.
The flavor also shows good balance - nice, fruity and raw hops converge with a handful of sweet malts; deep oranges, pungent and leafy hops, fresh, herbal grass... there are some other pretty juicy fruits lying around in there, but they're a bit harder to identify. I'll just call it "citrus and pine" and call it a day. The solid malty base contains heavily toasted crackers and a big zip of caramel sweetness, though it never overshadows the hops, which are zesty and spicy in the finish. Crisp, snappy mouth feel, light bodied and slightly sticky.
Very good beer, although I fear that this one falls victim to the "IPL syndrome" that I've come to find with many beers of this style - the heavy hoppage of IPL's covers up the lager yeast flavors a bit too much, and you've gotta wonder, why not an IPA? I will say, though, that the lagering gives this beer a nice, refreshing, clean and crisp finish. Very good overall, and I'm glad that I picked up a sixer to share with friends.

A- Copper in color and slightly hazy. A one finger head develops with a heavy pour but dissipates quickly. A light halo
S- Sweet mango, tropical fruit, bready malts, lemon, tangerine. Citrus in grass. Smells wonderful.
T- This is definitely a hop forward brew. A floral, piney hop presence hits the senses first. A earthy malt bill balances the flavors nicely. The middle sees more sweet malts, but the hops make an encore appearance in the end to my satisfaction. Pine, citrus, lemon, bread. Delicious.
M- A lager with balls. Hard to tell its a lager, and I like it. Drinkable as hell per the feel. Fantastic.
O- Well balanced and extremely drinkable. Clean crisp citrus flavors with a keen balancing malt backbone. I have never heard of this brewery before but I need to check them out a little more because this brew is something else. An IPA with a light feel. Freaking sweet!

64 ounce growler
Served in a pilsner glass
A - It is a nice amber color and crystal clear. The first pour yielded me three quarters of a glass of off-white to beige head.
S - I get lots of citrus and tropical fruit. There is a little caramel malt in there to balance it.
T - The taste has some of the tropical fruit and citrus that I noticed in the smell. I also get a little pine. It has a pretty clean finish.
M - Moderate
O - This beer is listed as an India Pale Lager. I think we need a new category here on BA. It was a nice variation of a lager. It is not a flavorful as an IPA, but this is quite a good lager. I have had it a couple times and is a nice change of pace.

Alright now... A lil random in a trade and Raul is feeling it quite well. Clean, crisp...has a slight bite like your girl at midnight... yeah, it's ok. Now, Raul ain't feelin' it like a bowl of soba noodles in Kioto, but it's ok and it does the job well enough.
A notch above average and that is ok with me.

This growler is courtesy of a coworker who picked it up early this week. The growler was labeled as "IPL", India Pale Lager. Very interesting. It pours a light bodied, bright bronze in color with a slight white lacing around the glass. The aromas are slightly hoppy, with a piney presence. It has the soft malt characteristics of a lager but the stickiness and pine resin of an IPA show through. It's interesting. It tastes of sticky, piny hops with a slight hoppy, yet this lager-esque bitterness. It's interesting. It drinks pretty light and is somewhat sessionable. It drinks fine and is an interesting hybrid. Overall it's a fine beer, yet a tweener and in between styles.
