This has a much more neighborhood feel to it. A sort of "everyone knows your name" craft beer bar, where there are a lot of "everyones" but they all seem to be quite familiar with each other. The vibe is extremely casual, with some games off to the far right of the interior, plenty of high tops elsewhere, and a lot of tables outside to enjoy the short summer. The bar itself is fairly long and woody, and made well for sliding a lager from edge to edge.

It definitely feels like a college beer bar, but at the same time features a very well-rounded list of unique brews. A couple of which were barrel aged stouts or dark lagers, aged for quite a long time in bourbon barrels, delivering a surprising level of complexity, albeit not quite in the world class tier. They even had cold brew coffee and hopped seltzer water available to purchase.

The food was typical bar food, but we didn't order anything. Because of the casual nature of the place, and the familiarity staff seems to develop with the crowd, service can be a little tricky when there are sometimes long conversations taking place between multiple people, but it wasn't too bad by any means.

University of Michigan was having its Spring Game 2019, so after the event, I headed to Wolverine State Brewing Company, which seemed appropriate and was right up the street from the Big House. Wolverine is tucked behind a number of other stores, but a sign is clearly visible from W Stadium Blvd. One enters to find a wrap-around, L-shaped service area on the left in the corner and a fair amount of seating (certainly for at least 120) throughout the remaining area. Self seating is a given and all service is at the counter.

The bar sports 18 working taps, predominantly lagers, when are the house specialty. Three of beers had a Wolverine theme, which seems appropriate given the mascot of the school right down the road. Flights and full serving are available. Wolverine clearly also bottles and cans, but these offerings did not appear to be available of site, although I didn't ask. I ate as well, a traditional Club Sandwich, which was just amazing.

The place was packed when we got there (despite the fact that so many people were still in the stadium)mand I was struck by the number of young families with kids. Definitely a nice spot to eat and drink with knowledgeable staff and a minimum of pretense. A worthwhile stop, if you are in the area.

Super casual and low key kinda place, a load of softball league players relaxing and having a good time when we visited. Cinder block box of a kinda place.

15 lagers on tap, burgers and typical pub group for the eatin.

Some outdoor space when the weather cooperates.....mid sized room, darts, multiple screens with the game on...

Worth a visit for a burger and a few quality brews...

The Tap Room at Wolverine State Brewing Co. was a cool place, without a doubt. A great place to have some awesome beer, watch a game and enjoy one another. The only food we had was the 2019 Nachos which were very good (have them with the smoked pulled pork!). Would definitely go back.

My rating for the food was the food I had. The other three I was with said their sandwich was good. We were there today and I got one of the specials. Dad's Boat. A habanero filled with Chorizo cheese and something else. There was so little of everything it was hard to tell. Everyone at the table thought I got an appetizer. It was very bland and I was hungry when I finished eating. We stopped to get fast food drive through on the way home.
I had a Gulo Gulo and a Rye IPA, both were fine. Avoid the specials I guess.

Cool industrial spot with a tap room, set back off the road. I love how many spins on the Lager style these guys are doing. Solid stuff outside what people commonly perceive as a lager. Plenty of styles for any beer drinker to choose from. Solid beer-drinking food served on disposable plates- sandwiches, BBQ, nachos, etc. Great spot away from Downtown Ann Arbor

I lived near there for a brief while and I encountered an incredibly drunk bar tender on one night and refusal to take an order over the phone on another. Beer and food are always on point, staff make me not really interested in returning.

It was warm inside on a Saturday evening in June. Place was pretty busy, but the mood wasn't loud. 15 of their beers on tap (all lagers as that is their thing). 12 15 and 22 oz pours. 4.25 or 4.75 for the 15 oz. I didn't have any food

Wolverine is a cool place in an odd side of town, which is actually a plus since it is easy to park there. Kind of a restaurant feel and they were having trivia when we were there (Monday night). Really seemed like a local bar, not many students of beer tourists (not that either are a bad thing). They only make lagers, which really isn't my style, but they really do some interesting stuff with just lagers, I'd recommend the Gulo Gulo India Pale Lager, and some of their specialties (I remember a Vienne style Rye Pilsner) were pretty good. Sat at the bar where we received prompt and helpful service. Split a bunch of 6oz samples with my girlfriend and had the nachos. Nachos were awesome with the pulled pork, absolutely do that if you go.

All in all a really cool place to go if you're in the area. I would bet there's a lot of Ann Arbor residents who have never been and they are missing out.

I checked this place out on a recent visit to Ann Arbor. I wanted to go here because it wasn't downtown where everything else is. It is kind of hidden behind another building. It is an unassuming cinder block building with a small patio in front. The inside is open with some tables as you walk in and an large L shaped bar.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot of the beer. I had read that they focused of lagers, which aren't as dynamic as ales. I was blown away by the beer. They are doing things with lagers that are pretty impressive. They had a couple of India pale lagers (IPL). They were delicious. They are making lagers in styles that you would typically associate with ales.

I sampled all nine of the beers that they had on tap. All the styles were good with some being great. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I did not see any food being served other than nuts and chips. It is definitely worth a stop to see what can be done with lagers. And I did hear talk of an expansion.

I'm there pretty much every week, so I figured I could review it. Good amount of parking outside, and during the summer they'll fence off an area outside near the front door for outside seating. Inside, it's one big open room with seating for maybe 80+ people at a bunch of tables, the bar, some high top tables, and a few couches and stuffed chairs. Handful of big TVs usually have sports on, and there are a couple of foosball tables available too.

No formal food menu, but they have a binder of delivery/take-out options available. Occasionally there's a food cart guy around who cooks in the parking lot and serves inside. Service has always been great - 2 bartenders that serve from behind the bar, only occasionally going out onto the floor to pick up empty glasses. Usually ~10-12 beers on tap, mostly lager style. Most beers available in 12, 15, and 22oz sizes. Joining the Mug Club allows you to drink 15oz beers for 12oz prices.

As of January 2012, they have trivia on Monday and Wednesday nights. They usually have some of their standard Wolverine Premium Lager and Wolverine Dark Lager available to go in bottles, and you can get growler fills of almost any beer. Free wifi. Overall, nice place to hang out and drink for an evening after work. Occasionally there'll be a knockout awesome beer on tap, but there'll always be a bunch of solid drinking beers available here.

I stopped here with jale last week while in town on business. A cool brewpub on the outskirts of town (upside = free parking, downside = no pub crawl from the downtown brewpubs). Essentially a big warehouse of a drinking room, with 4-6 TVs on the walls and plenty of seats (although it was packed on a Thursday night). It features an L-shaped bar with seats for about 15, tables for an additional 50 or so people, and a few couches and easy chairs next to coffee tables for another dozen.

They have a wide selection of beers, maybe 12 on tap when I was there. Heavy on lagers (including an India Pale Lager, a very cool concept I don't think I've seen before). Everything tasted pretty well constructed, no real complaints on quality at all.

So now there's another place on my map in Ann Arbor, as if it's not already hard enough to decide where to stop in this part of Michigan.
