I think that this is the best brewpub in Ann Arbor. Their specialties are lagers which appeals to the masses and the newbies into the craft beer world. The atmosphere we find inviting and relaxing, but you better get there early on a Friday or Saturday otherwise it is standing room only. Only two tv's and no jukebox or electronic dartboards, so you can have a pleasant conversation without having to scream. They do have a foosball table and steeltip dartboard. The quality of beer has changed dramatically since they opened. The beers used to have a buttery flavor due to not finishing properly, now they are spot on. The service has improved also with the addition of a manager and bar help. For selection they have at least six beers on tap and small batches coming soon. Food is either bring your own in or they do have a caterers that set up inside and sell food. If you are in the Ann Arbor area, give this place a try, you will be glad you did.

I'm there pretty much every week, so I figured I could review it. Good amount of parking outside, and during the summer they'll fence off an area outside near the front door for outside seating. Inside, it's one big open room with seating for maybe 80+ people at a bunch of tables, the bar, some high top tables, and a few couches and stuffed chairs. Handful of big TVs usually have sports on, and there are a couple of foosball tables available too.

No formal food menu, but they have a binder of delivery/take-out options available. Occasionally there's a food cart guy around who cooks in the parking lot and serves inside. Service has always been great - 2 bartenders that serve from behind the bar, only occasionally going out onto the floor to pick up empty glasses. Usually ~10-12 beers on tap, mostly lager style. Most beers available in 12, 15, and 22oz sizes. Joining the Mug Club allows you to drink 15oz beers for 12oz prices.

As of January 2012, they have trivia on Monday and Wednesday nights. They usually have some of their standard Wolverine Premium Lager and Wolverine Dark Lager available to go in bottles, and you can get growler fills of almost any beer. Free wifi. Overall, nice place to hang out and drink for an evening after work. Occasionally there'll be a knockout awesome beer on tap, but there'll always be a bunch of solid drinking beers available here.

I stopped here with jale last week while in town on business. A cool brewpub on the outskirts of town (upside = free parking, downside = no pub crawl from the downtown brewpubs). Essentially a big warehouse of a drinking room, with 4-6 TVs on the walls and plenty of seats (although it was packed on a Thursday night). It features an L-shaped bar with seats for about 15, tables for an additional 50 or so people, and a few couches and easy chairs next to coffee tables for another dozen.

They have a wide selection of beers, maybe 12 on tap when I was there. Heavy on lagers (including an India Pale Lager, a very cool concept I don't think I've seen before). Everything tasted pretty well constructed, no real complaints on quality at all.

So now there's another place on my map in Ann Arbor, as if it's not already hard enough to decide where to stop in this part of Michigan.

A brewery with focus mainly on lagers. I enjoy stopping here for a really good lager. They seem to have it down quite well for the short time they have been open. Large open room with seating for about 70 people. Even with the open floor plan, the noise does'nt seem too noisy when the place fills up. Several couches and a coffee table are placed for relaxing area to unwind. The staff are very attentive and seem to enjoy talking about the beer. No food is available (other then chips in bags). You can however order food to be delivered to the brewery. The feel is relaxed and casual. Seems a place people come to unwind and enjoy a good beer.

Went here on a visit to Ann Arbor from Lansing.
Place is down an alley behind other buidlings, so could be hard to find. Walking in, I was immediately impressed with the casual, clean atmosphere. Careful attention has been made to the decor I'd say; I especially liked the tables with USGS maps of Michigan under the glass/plexi. The large painting of MI on the wall is also nice, with ample space for darts playing. Didn't see foosball (though it's out in the open) until I was leaving otherwise would have played. TVs were playing rugby while there, volume was low, so the overall volume of the place was comfortable to have a nice conversation in.

I was surprised at the quality of the beer for being new and specializing in lagers. Everything I tasted I really liked. The IPA was weak-ish on hops, definitely an EIPA. The American Lager was splendid.

Service was nice, exclusively at the bar, and attentive.

Though they only had 6 beers on tap, I rated them highly since 5/6 were lagers, which are rare to find from a craft brewer. It was a welcome change of pace, and none had off flavors. I appreciated the diversity in lagers as well (rye pilsener, baltic porter) and was really excited to see the list of upcoming beers, with dates they will arrive, I would love to come back to sample one of the 20-odd new beers coming out soon.

Food was non-existent, though they have signs in the bathroom saying you can order to your barstool from elsewhere. I say this is below average, but I appreciate the effort to advertise the eat-in policy.

$9 for 6x7oz. tasters. Nice presentation of these as well. Sm, Med, and Lg beers all seemed attractively priced. Growlers for $10-14 with the bottle.

I checked this place out on a recent visit to Ann Arbor. I wanted to go here because it wasn't downtown where everything else is. It is kind of hidden behind another building. It is an unassuming cinder block building with a small patio in front. The inside is open with some tables as you walk in and an large L shaped bar.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot of the beer. I had read that they focused of lagers, which aren't as dynamic as ales. I was blown away by the beer. They are doing things with lagers that are pretty impressive. They had a couple of India pale lagers (IPL). They were delicious. They are making lagers in styles that you would typically associate with ales.

I sampled all nine of the beers that they had on tap. All the styles were good with some being great. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I did not see any food being served other than nuts and chips. It is definitely worth a stop to see what can be done with lagers. And I did hear talk of an expansion.
