Another great brew from Yellowhammer. This is what they call a gateway brew. This brew pours smooth and had a reddish tent to it. Yellowhammer uses Cara Red malt in thisbrew to obtain that reddish hue. Light hop kick on the back end and loaded with malt. Truly smooth beer that most definitely does not drink like it is 6%. This is also a brew that uses and ale yeast but drinks like a lager. Great session brew.

Trying the Rebellion at the Pie Factory in Florence, AL. The beer poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a lace. The scent is faint, malt mixed with hops. The taste is mostly maple sweet malt with definite presence of alcohol. The m outhfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall its decent but not enough to yearn for more.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass.

A: Pours a clear light copper red with two finger white head leaving some minimal lacing.

S: Caramel and malts with a faint hint of hops.

T: Lots of bready malts with some subtle sweetness.

M: Medium body and average carbonation. Very easy drinking.

O: Nice offering from Yellowhammer. Nothing crazy outstanding here, but a well executed basic beer.

Thanks to Jim for this one!

Described on the label as a hybrid German/American red lager using Vienna and Munich malts, also American crystal hops and house lager yeast.

Pours a dark reddish amber, copious foam that rises majestically over the rim of the glass, forming crags and peaks. Lots of lacing, and nice clarity and color.

Aroma is toasty and softly sweet with some supporting fruity yeast esters, plum possibly. Crystal hops add something to the equation.

Toasty malt and juicyfruit gum in the taste. Light fruity hop note, without much bitterness. Smooth nutty specialty malts come through nicely. Medium bodied but light enough to drink easily. This was good stuff, enjoyed it quite a bit.

Smell was malty. Almost resembled the smell of a fruit and vegetable beer. Head was nice. Taste was smooth. Nice blend of malt and hops. Not too bitter not too sweet. Good beer.

Appearance: Translucent copper penny red with a fluffy off-white head that deflates to lace.
Smell: Red apples, caramel malts, earthy notes
Taste: Pine/herbal hops, citrus, pears, caramel malts and an ineffable earthy taste that reminds me of walnuts somehow.
Mouthfeel: Medium body lightly carbonated
Overall: Pretty middle of the road but not bad.
A solid 3.5

Lacing, some head.

Malty, not very hoppy.

If I had to compare the style/taste, I'd say Killian's Irish Red, but this is clearly a great micro, and comparing it to Killian's doesn't do it justice. I wouldn't call this a Maibock, it's just not hoppy enough - it's a Red Lager (Yellowhammer Brewery itself calls it a red lager).

This is made in my home state, but I had no expectations going in and was pleasantly surprised. I like malty beers, and this is one of the best I've had - nice drinkability without giving up character or taste.

12 ounce bottle pour. Pours an amber color with a one finger head. Aroma is very malty, slightly toasty. Taste is the same as the aroma. This is the first beer I've tried from Yellowhammer and I was impressed. This is one of the better ambers I've tried. I will definitely be buying again.
