a very well crafted ipa from bonfire, one of their best beers to date really. this is done with local and proprietary hops from what i understand, grown not to far from the brewery and done relatively fresh. the nose reflects that, a high altitude hop profile, medium alpha but a ton of citrus and pine. they describe this one the can as a caramel malt bomb, but i dont get an overdose of that, which i of course welcome in my american ipa, keep it light, let the hops shine, and they certainly do here. pumpkin orange liquid with a great glow, a little haze, and a lazy and tough to rouse white head that settles back to lace patches in a minute or so. citrus and pine hops on the nose, not a ton of malt but enough to make this a bigger beer, smells awesome really, clean and bright, satisfying, the flavor is real satisfying, complex enough to hold my attention, but not overshooting the target here, a straightforward american hop centered beer, fresh as they come. it only gets bitter on the back end, the rest of it is west coasty without the oils, chinook to thank for that. the feel is a mixed bag, i would love it to have and to hold a but more carbonation, but i love the full body, smooth feel, and prominent bitter hops that last forever with just a little malt sweetness on my tongue after each gulp. its a really good ipa, in the modus and odell ipa range, lovely stuff here, i hope this blows up.
