16 oz can. Pours light ruby brown with a small creamy off-white head that goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet caramel peaty malts and molasses.

The flavor is sweet molasses and caramel with some smoky peat and some medicinal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an ok sweet peaty caramel scotch ale.

Unique label data: BOTTLED ON THIS DATE 12/2/14

Dark, cinnamon brown color; thick, frothy head. Roasted grain and nutty smell; caramel. Hefty yet perfectly balanced sweetness, much like the aroma in character; a mildly gnarly hop bitterness to balance out the sweetness. Heavy body with a velvety soft mouthfeel.

An incredibly rich, densely tasteful Scotch ale. Malt sweetness and body dominate the picture in a most pleasing manner. Hefty with flavor and body yet extremely drinkable with an unlikely deft softness to things.

a bit of a bummer this one. all the bonfire cans have been so damn tasty, but this one is overly sweet and not particularly flavorful really. a little paler or blonder than others from the pint can, with a nose of earthy caramelized grain and a touch of smoke, or maybe burnt sugar or grain. lots of sugar, unfermented in some way, toffee and maple, too much of it though, and the parts that make it a scotch ale by nature are lost a little bit. some smoke as it finishes, but there is a metal vibe and too much sugar all the way through. with how good all the others form bonfire were, i wanted more from this. full body and a sudsy feel, frothy enough and all, but more sugar left over than i can even really finish. the end of this can was a chore, and this could use some more time in fermentation maybe, or maybe a lighter grain set up, but as it stands its nothing special unless you like them real sweet.
