Ottawa brewpub with two locations in the city. I'd previously been to the one on Bank Street, but for one reason or another they were out of every single one of their brews, which wasn't exactly ideal. The food was decent and the environment so-so. I wouldn't really go back.

Fast forward a couple of years, and by shere coincidence I'm attending a wedding down the street from their other location on MacKay. We pop in to kill some time between the ceremony and reception, and I like this spot a fair bit more than Bank Street. The pub has that weathered wood luck that seems to have been adopted for every fake Irish bar in the country. This place aint Irish though, but it pulls off a certain homeliness. Service was good, if a tad slow, but nothing to complain about. They actually had four of their five beers available, which was a pleasant suprise. On the whole they range from very nice (kolsch) to poor (raspberry wheat). The rest of the tap selection has nothing of interest to a refined drinker. Beer seemed in good shape.

Alright brewpub. The beers weren't spectacular, and they only have 5 different ones, nothing exciting. Didn't try the food as we had just came over from The Works across the street, which I can only assume has better food. There is a pool table hidden downstairs by the bathrooms. Not sure what the deal is with that, never did see anyone down there.

Okay fairly run of the mill brews with a decent selection of beers from Canadian domestics to standard imports . Although I don't know why a brewpub sells the beer of others at their place.

Really good food and great variety at that I had Kung foo noodle and pea soup. The range on the menu is really impressive. Certainly not just run of the mill pub fare.

Parking available nearby.

nice staff, knowledgable about menu

competitive prices for both the beer and the food

Place can get packed though after work hours. Go early.

Visited with my brother a while back in order to chat and catch up...

It had a good North American 'pub' atmosphere where we could chat and have a good time, without any obtrusive music and idiots screaming about how good the local sports team was doing on a TV. The beers were decent, though nothing to write home about, and with about six on tap (and one on cask) the selection was okay. There weren't any really edgey styles on tap either (adjunct lager, blonde ale, brown, stout, no IPA...). Service was decently prompt and polite considering how full the place was.

One of my go to places for wings on Tuesday nights. They also have specials on pints of Keiths and Steamwhistle beer on Tuesdays only. Four dollars each I believe. Monday through Thursday they also have half price appetizers from 4-8pm. The food is better at the bank street location. I personally really enjoy the nachos. Also a good selection of beers including some of their own home made stuff. The prices arent the best for what you get, but if you happen to go on one of the nights that they have a deal, it's not too bad.

I spent last weekend in Ottawa for Winterlude.

Being of the beer mind, we headed to Byward to seek out Ottawa's only brewpub "the Clock Tower". Upon arrival we found the tables full of patrons and an empty bar, so we cozied up to the bar and waited for our server, and waited, and waited.

Eventually the hostess came over and got us a couple of house beers(that were average at best). There was no bartender to be found.

We hung out watching the Olympics for a bit. The place was clean, the service poor and the beer was not really worth it.

Ottawa needs to catch up to the rest of North America with beer.

A low lit typical neighbourhood pub with an English style ambiance and interesting menu and a bunch of their own beers. Other offerings were Ontario Micros, with a few BMCs. I had all of their beers that were available, which ranged from fairly average, to pretty good. Food was quick to arrive, tasty, and well put together. Service was tatoo girl, but friendly and attentive.
I got there around 5 pm, and it wasn't that busy at all, but by the time I left, the place was packed and there were only 2 servers. I guess I got there at a good time, cause I suspect that service was basically at a standstill by that time.

Visited the Bank St. location early afternoon on a Saturday. Wasn't overly crowded, but the parking lot was full. A long walk down Bank St. gets you to the parliament, and then a few blocks east to Byward Market. Reverse and you're sober enough to drive home. Makes me consider the logistics of parking at brewpubs... but I digress...

Atmosphere is par for the course I think: trendy-pubby, with standard fare and 5 beers on tap, including one on cask. Sadly, the cask was broken or somesuch, and the beers were really only OK. Waitress seemed a bit surly as well. Of the 5 beers, I liked the ESB the best. The food was tasty, but not exceptional in any way. I would go back, but I won't rave about this place.
