The 2014 edition. Poured into a snifter. Thanks for picking this one up, Cliff.

A: Ice tea brown. A tan half finger head that dissipates fast. Thick foamy lacing.

S: A wonderful blend of malts with a slight hoppiness this year.

T: Malts really shine through with a piney hop backbone. The blending is terrific. Sweet, sure-footed. Well balanced. A real sipper, for sure.

M: Medium to heavy with medium carbonation.

O: Glad I finally got to try one of these elusive beauties. Well worth the patience and price ($15). Would love to try one aged for a year or a vertical.

Bottle shared at the monthly bottle share held at Flask Fine Wines in Studio City, CA.

Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, toffee, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with brown sugar, toffee, citrus zest, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice mix of sugary, citrus, and wood characteristics all around.

Serving type: bottle.
