Notes from 3/13. 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. This 'American Wheat Ale with Citrus' comes across as a Pale Ale in a way. Pours a medium straw with a thin cap, quite clear for a wheat ale and showing just a hint of haze.

Aroma throws a funky hop pitch at you initially but fortunately this settles out quickly with a bit of exposure. Offers a bit of sour lemony wheat after some warming. Not all bad but not really much going on. Aroma seems like a secondary concern here.

Taste is very light with a touch of malt but no discernible wheat component. Bit of lemon on the finish. Feel is light yet smooth and not watery. Again, no definitive wheat texture to be found. Given the color/haze, smell and taste I would assume this wheat ale has no more than 10 or 20 percent wheat.

Overall just not a whole lot to love here. Similar to the blueberry wheat without the blueberry of course, perhaps the same base beer, and dare I say lacking something as a result. Not bad by any means, just lacking enough character to desire another.

I had no idea this was wheat type ale. Just saw it was a local brewery so figured I would try it. I don't really like any wheat beers although some of the Belgian ones are ok. I am mainly a lager drinker. That's just what my taste buds prefer.

I was quite surprised when I drank it. It had a very subtle wheat taste. It went down smooth and I could easily take down a six pack of it. The aroma had a slight malty smell but not overpowering and it was a slightly hazy golden amber color. A light crisp taste that stayed the whole way down. No harsh or bitter aftertaste.

A - pale yellow, very light straw color. Minimal head that quickly dissipated. Good carbonation coming up. Like a bud light in color really.

S - mainly wheat and citrus. The citrus is refreshing and zesty. Smells very much like a hefeweizen.

T - kind of flat on the palate. Not much here. The aftertaste has a bit of the citrus. Really mainly flat and non-descript. Wheat is trying to come out but is hidden.

M - this is its standout to me. Very smooth and mellow on te palate. Right amount of carbonation. Aftertaste sits nicely, but very mellow.

O - my first by Cold Storage. Was not impressed. It is drinkable for the summer, however. But if its flavor you're after, not the one for you.

[Suggested Glassware: Weizen Glass]

The pour was a clear pale yellow with a huge (3-4 finger) white frothy head that was fully diminishing and had poor spotty lacing.

The aroma was of a mild grain malt and a soapy yeast with a hint of citrus (lemon).

The taste was very mild and had a light hint of citrus from the start with a mild funky yeast settling in towards the end. The flavor was short lived and very light after the swallow.

Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a mild carbonation.

Overall a very light Wheat beer, that I feel fell just a tad short. Although, the low ABV and easy drinkability make it a decent session brew...

12oz bottle

A- Pours a clear golden yellow color with an off-white head.

S- The aroma is sweet malt and very fruity (almost artificial like Fruit Loops).

T- The taste like the aroma is faint wheat in the background with more of the artificial fruity flavors that were present in the aroma.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a lot of carbonation.

O- Overall, I just wasn't a huge fan of this beer. Did not taste very fresh or natural.

Bottle: Poured a super pale yellow color ale with a medium size pure white foamy head with good carbonation and not much lacing. Aroma of light wheat malt notes with light citrus undertone. Taste is also on the lighter side of things with light wheat malt notes with some unrefined grain notes and light citrus finish. Body is super light with medium carbonation. Not going back for another one of those anytime soon.

Pours a pale golden color with heavy carbonation that still doesn't retain a head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and alcohol. Taste is more citrus and wheat and less alcohol. Taste is not crazy complex but this is a very refreshing beer. Great beer after a long day especially in the warmer weather.

In 12 oz. Bottle

Good head, thick lace, pour light yellow. Very inviting.

Get lots of wheaty flavor in the nose and a little bit of lemon -- pleasant and not overwhelming.

Tastes as it smells. Nothing overwhelming, but very refreshing and enjoyable. Little bit of lemon catches you after.

Overall, seems like they really nailed the wheat beer style well. It's refreshing, enjoyable, and perfect for the weather in Tampa. Great to see local breweries doing it right.

A - hazy yellow -- nice rings on the glass after. Poured with about a half inch of head.

S - light lemon and

T - Extremely refreshing. Really light lemon in the after-taste. Perfect for the hot weather.

M - Sweet. You get grain, wheat and then a lingering citrus/lemon follow-up.

Overall, I really liked it. It was refreshing, tasty, but not overwhelming. One of the better wheat beers I have tried.

On tap at the Cock & Bull in Sarasota.

Pours a clear, bright yellow. Good head fades slowly and leaves a thick film. Some lacing.
Smell is wheat, yeast, light citrus and banana and spices. Good balance.
Taste is similar with notes of good yeasty bread, spices (mostly pepper) and malt. Pretty good balance here, too.
Medim bodied with a medium effervescence. Just a hint of warming. Letting this one sit a few minutes is not a problem as it kind of rounds out the flavor. A good blfirst shot from a new brewery. I will be watching them as they are local to me.

Thanks for sharing this beer, Bobby.

A: The pour is a pale straw color with a white head.

S: Smells sort of adjunct laden. There may not be corn in this, but it smells like there is. Cooked grains and sweet grain and malt notes are really all there is to this beer. Maybe a touch of floral and grassy hop notes.

T: Mildly fruity on the tongue with a sweet grain flavor that really dominates. There seems to be a hint of vanilla in the background, too. Definitely some sugar notes in there.

M: Light in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: This was just sort of your generic "beer flavored" beverage. Not terribly enjoyable.

The staff at the St. Petersburg Pier were raving about this one and I can't understand why. Think one of those new ultra-light 60-some calories beers. Serve it really cold. This is maybe an upscale version of those?

Poured very very light yellowish, no head at any point, not very well carbonated. Maybe a bit of hop on the nose and maybe a touch less on the mouth. I could actually see somebody accepting this as water-fountain water if they didn't know it was a beer.

I was very disappointed based on the number of people who raved about this at the Pier.

This is one of my new favorite session beers and an excellent gateway into the craft-beer world for the uninitiated. Had this on tap at Paradise Grill on St. Pete Beach. This is actually a filtered wheat beer and I would classify it as a blonde ale. Amazingly clean, malty and light on the hops, it finishes with a distinct lemon snap. Perfect for hot days on the beach or in the backyard. Hop-heads and beer snobs may turn their noses up in search of the next imperial IPA, but true beer fans will appreciate this deceptively simple session ale.

Tasted what was sold as a Pale Ale at the House of Beer in Dunedin. Thankfully it was replaced with a true Pale Ale. This beer had no color and no taste. The color was about what one would expect for a macro brew light beer not a microbrew pale ale. Most of the remainder of this is only to fill space, this is rather silly.

The new kid on the block comes through with three bottled offerings. This is the poorest of the three, in my book.

A - It pours an absolutely translucent straw-gold hue and is capped with a fizzy white head of minimal duration. There is no lace or retention despite fair carbonation.

S - There is faint smell of hay, straw, and dirty laundry, but not expressed pleasantly like a Saison. Thankfully it is faint, as mentioned. Beyond that though, there isn't much except vague beeriness.

T - The taste is an improvement on the nose, but not by much. The slight straw-sock essence is even more slight, but there is, again, nothing beyond that other than a faint beeriness.

M - Too sharply carbonated, with no real flavor to enhance in the first place.

D - Not so much. Try the Florida Avenue Blueberry instead. It is pretty good for what it is.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a nonic. I'm aware this is a wheat beer of some sort, and the label says "Ale with natural flavors added," but beyond that I'm absolutely clueless to what this will taste like.

I pop this open and pour it, and it immediately pours a pilsner-esque transparent gold - if this is a wheat beer, it's surely filtered. The head is about a finger and a half of dense, white foam which retains decently. Lacing is below average. The smell is a little difficult to coax out, but once accomplished I get some very pale wheat, some pale malts, and some sort of a fruit - perhaps an apricot flavor? There's citrus flavors and something a bit nutty here too. It smells good, just weak. The taste does step things up a notch though. First comes the very pale wheat flavors that simmer for a bit until a strong rush of fruity and nutty flavors rush in - I believe it's a sort of an apricot flavor. It's incredibly juicy, one of the best fruit flavors I've ever tasted in a beer, which might have something to do with the bottling date - this was bottled less than a week ago.

The mouthfeel is good; it's very light and crisp. The carbonation is downright aggressive, but it seems to work well with this brew. The drinkability is absolutely off the charts - I could seriously drink this all day and have a really good time. It's just very pleasant tasting and very easy drinking - almost a light beer for the beer geek crowd. Recommended for fans of Magic Hat #9, this owes more than a bit in formula to it. I surely enjoyed this and will be purchasing it again, but it's not for everyone.
