Poured from a bomber bottle into my Stone goblet...

A - Pours a semi-hazy golden orange color with a finger of light tan color head. Very nice, tight lacing appears as I sip.

S - Has some nice tropical & citrus fruit aromas. Pineapple, mango and some citrusy lemon notes as well. Nothing overwhelming, just complimentary to the nice caramel grain bill.

T/M - The front of the taste yeilds the slightly sweet caramel malts at first, then really opens up to the mango and pineapple hop profile. No lingering hop resin in the aftertaste tho. Medium mouthfeel and a rather pleasant under carbonated mouthfeel.

O - I was very plesantly surprised by this beer. Really good flavor profile, very easy to drink and reasonably priced. I would more than likely buy this beer again.

This is your hop-forward, malt almost non-existent IPA.

Super Grassy, very piney, very bitter.

A - Good. Very active and copper, decent head retention in a Guiness perfect pint glass

S - Tons of pine resin - some Grapefruit and white pepper, grassy.

T - Metallic Grapefruit in flavor with a ton of Dry / Bitter pine in the finish. I keep getting a hint of metaliic taste with the hops but it's faint - goes away completely when the beer warms up. Sourish bitter grapefruit (not like a sour) dominates as it warms, finished very bitter and white peppery. Again, this one is very piney. This beer is MUCH better warmed up some than cold. This one is all about the pine and grass especially when cold...the citrus and grapefruit component does not make itself known until it warms.

M - Could use a wee bit more malt which is un-like me to say. Not much of a body to this beer. I like the mouthfeel of Hop Riot better than this one although I do like the Grapefruit in this one that Hop Riot is missing...

O - Solid beer, would be more than happy to have again but I won't be buying more with my dinero especially at $7.99. Not because I'm on a budget by any means but because there are so many other great readily available IPAs on the market at a better value. A 3.5 beer in taste cold - a 4.0 when it warms up. Noticeable difference.

Got this one from Bbothen....

Pours an effervescent honey color with 3 fingers of cream colored head. Head settles in nicely a depth of one thumb, great head retention & lacing

S: Piney & citrus notes

T: Follows the nose, grapefruit & some pineapple also showing up front, some sweet grainy bread as well. Grapefruit & pineyness battle for supremacy as this warms, some pineapple, & faint apricot lurk in the background, along some husky grainy notes just a bit of honey malt sweetness. Finishes with pineyness, woody hops, & grapefruit & a bit of dryness

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, pretty nice balance

Very drinkable IPA with no major drawbacks, worthy up purchase consideration

Recommended as a stand-in for Drake's Aroma Coma, which has disappeared from shelves. Bomber served in a stemless wine glass.

Fully saturated glowing orange, a thin skim and dense ring of foam around the edges. Foam recedes quickly, and there's not much to begin with.

Tangerine, pineapple, citrus, sweet fruity smells like the produce section of the supermarket. All around hop bomb that delivers the west coast goods.

Bracingly bitter, well hopped and fresh with plenty of lush green hoppage. Sweet citrus, tangerine and oranges. Ample pale malt in the middle with a touch of toasted popcorn kernels. Lingering grassy bitterness, resiny and dry. Overall very tasty and drinkable.

Bomber poured into a tulip glass. Beer pours a clear orange/copper color with a finger of soapy off white head. The head dissipated quickly, leaving a lot of sticky lacing, to a thin foamy collar and a patch of bubbles. A bit of fine carbonation at the edge of the glass.

Nose is sweet white grapes, light floral hops, and some light lemon notes. Quite a bit of biscuit and caramel like malts in this one. Aromas are very weak for a beer that was released two weeks ago.

Taking a sip, really different tasting IPA. Some light white grape sweetness and floral hops, then the malt backbone hits the tongue, biscuit, grains, and caramel. Near the back of the tongue, some massive bitterness shows up, herbal and grassy hops. Finish is very bitter, lingering grassy flavors on the tongue.

Light to medium body with a good amount of small prickly carbonation. Very grassy bitter beer though, and slightly unpleasant due to how the grassy hop flavor masks the lighter floral and fruity hop flavors. I like bitter IPA's, but not this grassy herbal flavor.

Had high hopes for this one since there was some Nelson Sauvin used in it, but it seems the balance of flavor and aromatic hops with the bittering hops was way off on this one.

Serving Type: 22 oz. bottle purchased from the cold box at City Beer in San Francisco.

Poured into a Spiegelau lager glass

A: Very nice copper color with a nice amount of carbonation. Lacing is apparent. This beer knows how to look good in glass!

S: Whoa! Big piney aromas jumping out of the glass. Very herbal character.

T: A ton of hop character. The hoppiness of this beer walks all over the malt profile. This is A-O-K with me. Lingering bitterness .

M: This beer is big. The bitterness creates a harsh mouthfeel, however, if hop character is what you like, the bitterness will satisfy.

O: This is a great IPA... Has west coast IPA quality, but it is unique. This beer goes all-piney and herbal on you. I can't find the traditional citrus that has become synonymous with the west coast IPA.

A-Pours light amber with 1/2 inch of off white head.

S-Fantastic lemony aromas meld effortlessly with citric hops and Belgian yeast. Mouth watering stuff.

T/M-Very dry, with a tannic hop dryness that spreads over the palate. The lemon verbena and Belgian yeast add so much to what would already be an accomplished IPA, without distracting from the dry, bitter hoppiness. There's a wave of earthy, bready maltiness to cut the intensity of the bittering hops just before it thins out to the finish. Touch of black pepper on the back end.

O-Beautiful stuff. I hope High Water makes this part of its regular line-up.

On-tap at Toronado

Pours a fairly clear golden orange color with a finger of white head. Initially a solid aroma of grapefruit and floral hops. Becomes sort of grassy at it sits, though. Similar story on the palate. Up front, a good grapefruit, pine, and floral hop bite, but dies down to just sort of grassy and a citric acidity. Medium body and carbonation.

S- Bottle and Draft.

A- Looks like your standard IPA, almost a little bit light in color.

S- A big tropical fruit hit with passion fruit and nice citrus and piny undertones. Smells gloriously fresh and hoppy.

T- Incredible. Pineapple, mango, oranges, banana, pepper, followed by a very long increasingly if pleasantly bitter finish. Unbelievably good every time I've tried it. Both on draft and in the bottle this is exceptional.

M- Very high carbonation fits perfectly with the complexity of flavors and in fact helps them develop.

O- I haven't been overly impressed by either IPA I have tried from this brewer prior to this. They are both solid offerings, but this is in a different league. Job well done.

Pours a bright and somewhat hazy gold color with a pretty nice off white head, nice lacing too.

Aromas are of grapefruits, light spices, mineral water, and ground up aspirin.

Taste is bitter, with some lemon, grassy, kind of tart, and pretty dry up front. Light creaminess, some crystal malt sweetness, and some graininess, and a finish of tart and bitter grapefruit.

Light mouthfeel, crisp carbonation, about right for the style.

Overall this is a pretty good IPA. Certainly bitter, maybe a bit unbalanced too. I like it, but I've had quite a few that are better and cost a buck or so cheaper.

22oz bomber. Batch 2. Released 02/09/12. Served in a Pinot Noir wine glass.

Pours a very hazy dark gold with a small off-white head. Bubbles are big and loose. Small amounts of lacing left behind in glass.

Aroma is very unique for an IPA. Pineapple is dominant with Tangelo citrus almost as strong. Mild funky Belgian yeast in the background. Some peppery spice. Complex and intriguing.

Flavor is medium-dry with all the citrus notes from the nose present, but subtle. A very small touch of sweetness in the middle and things dry up again for a mild bitter finish. Tastes a lot more like a Belgian IPA than the aroma let on.

A medium body with medium-light carbonation. Still, there is some crispness and an overall nice feel.

Definitely *not* a west-coast IPA, but that is not a criticism. A unique spin on the style and quite enjoyable.

From 22 oz bottle via Letspour.
Poured in a Chimay glass.
Pours a semi-cloudy gold...modest head with lace.
Initial aroma of a fresh fruit tart, apricot, apple, kiwi, sugar cane...refreshing.
Moderate carbonation and mouthfeel.
Flavors of straw hops, white grapefruit rind, slight chalk, poblano pepper juice. Overall bold and full bodied but not my favorite IPA profile but worthy of a pint or more.

On tap at 38 Degrees in Alhambra, CA.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and slight tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the mouthfeel is off on this one.
